Colby living at Green Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Also in the household was a hired man, Perley Stone, 18, a farm laborer and native of New Hampshire.3 Clarence Jesse Colby registered for the draft on 12 September 1918. His home was listed as Hooksett R.F.D., Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Next of kin was shown as Julia Ann Colby. He was a farmer of medium height, medium build, brown eyes and brown hair.4

The census of 1920 shows Clarence J. Colby, a farmer, and Julia A. Colby, listed with Edna M. Colby living at Robinson Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Also in the family was his father-in-law, William Hend, a 69-year-old widower, native of New Hampshire.5

The census of 1930 shows Clarence J. Colby, a farmer, and Annie H. Colby, listed with Edna M. Colby living at South Bow Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Also in the household was a boarder, Ralph McNamara, 35, a saw mill worker from Vermont.6

She died on 28 November 1945 at age 64.1 She was buried in Alexander Cemetery on River Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, in the same plot with David A. Colby and C. Juilette Howe.7

     Anna E. Hovey was born in Norfolk, Norfolk County, Virginia.1 She was born on 17 March 1818 in Norfolk.2 She married Samuel Howard on 30 April 1845 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.3,4

The census shows Samuel Howard, 36, a tailor with $3600 real estate, and Anna A. Howard, 42, listed with Susan Howard, George Howard and Samuel Howard Jr. living at Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Also living there was Mary Hammond, 44, a dressmaker from Maine, with $500 personal estate. The family is listed adjacent to that of Samuel's sister, Lucy (Howard) Moore.5

The census of 6 June 1870 shows Samuel Howard, 45, cutter of clothing, with $600 personal estate, and Anna A. Howard, 46, keeping house, listed with Susie E. Howard, George E. Howard and Samuel Howard Jr. living at Boston Highlands, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.6


Anna E. B. N. Howard is mentioned in the marriage record of Harlow E. Woodward and Susie E. Howard on 2 June 1873 at Boston.7

As of 1879, Anna lived at 182 W. 7th St., Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.8

The census of 1880 shows Anna E. Howard, Samuel was a book agent, unemployed 8 months in the past year, listed with Samuel Howard living at 52 Clarence St., Roxbury, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.9 In 1884, Anna E. Hovey was a boarder at 250 W 6th St., Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.8

She died on 29 November 1885 in 29 Bainbridge St., Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, at age 67 pneumonia for 10 days.10 Her death record listed her residence at 29 Bainbridge St., Boston.11 She was buried in Boston.11
The death record of Susan E. Woodward on 23 July 1909 lists the mother as Anna E. Hovey
