Clara Elizabeth Leonard was the Daughter of Henry Owen and Harriette Lois Hendrick Leonard.

She married Leopold Retting on June 23, 1879 and had a daughter, Florence born about 1880. They lived in Brattleboro next to his parents, John and Louisa, but later moved to Michigan.
