\\par\par
Ref.4). Ancestor chart "The Hipple Line", unsigned & not dated - This is a com-\\par\par
plete and comprehensive, typed chart, but it should be noted that there is an-\\par\par
other, handwritten, not-so-professional, chart that contradicts much of this\\par\par
one. In it, every male head of family for 4 generations is named "Henry".\\par\par
This particular generation is listed as "Henry Hipple arrived US 1742 on ship\\par\par
William & Mary Settled in Chester Co. Came from Upper Reinland; Wife ?"\\par\par
\\par\par
Ref.1). Other notes include:"Johannes Hippell [sic] came to America on Ship\\par\par
"Glasgow" from Amsterdam Holland. Quailfied Phila. Sept 9, 1738 age 40.\\par\par
Johannes Berger on same ship (age 29) see Strassberger's German Pioneers Vol I\\par\par
p. 204, 206- 208."\\par\par
NOTE: this agrees with other records I have.---"Johannes was the father of\\par\par
Lorentz Hipple. Lorenz and the children from before 1738 are said to have come\\par\par
to Phila. with their father. See records of Trappe Church (Augustus Lutheran)\\par\par
in Pa. Ger. Society Proceeding[s] Vol VII pg 481."\\par\par

Ref.6)."Some of the descendents of Johannes Hippel, born in Holland, who came\\par\par
to America when 40 years old on the ship Glasglow, Walter Sterling, master,\\par\par
September 9, 1738. Johannes Hipple took the oath of Allegiance September 9,\\par\par
1738. (Through his son Lorentz or Lawrence Hipple)...[he was] born in Holland\\par\par
in 1698, died in Vincent Twp., Chester Co., PA, April 1749...buried in the\\par\par
Mennonite Church graveyard outside of Spring City, Vincent Twp., Chester\\par\par
Co., PA". Note, I could not find his grave.\\par\par
\\par\par
THE PROBLEM comes from the fact that there were 2 John Hipples having babies at\\par\par
the same time; one in Trappe (above), and another (probably his son) in the\\par\par
records of E. Vincent Reformed.\\par\par
\\par\par
UNCERTAINTIES: since it was not documented in Ref.6)., I assumed that his wife\\par\par
Mary FERRIERA had died in Holland (or perhaps on board the ship), and that\\par\par
only his sons had made the journey.\\par\par

First generation 1. Johannes Hipple was born in Germany 1698 (Strassburger, Pennsylvania German Pioneers, immigrated at age 40. Page 204 the named HIPPEL means Waffle Seller. Many medieval German merchants took their name from the wares they sold... In the highly regulated and the guild-minded commerce, merchants usually specialized in a single item. German- American Names, George F. Jones Page 185). Johannes died 1749 Vincent Twp, Chester County, PA, a blacksmith, at 50 years of age. His body was interred Vincent Twp, Chester County, Pennsylvania, Vincent Mennonite Church Cemetery (Sheeder East Vincent Twp, Fredrick Sheeder, and page 212:... the father (Johannes Hipple) is buried at Rhodes meetinghous...). Johannes immigrated, 9 September 1738. Destination: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Strassburger, Pennsylvania German Pioneers,"At the Courthouse of Philadelphia, September 9, 1738. Present the Honorable George Thomas, Esq., Lt. Gov.... The Palatines whose names are underwritten, imported in the ship Glasgow, Walter Sterling, Com, last from Cowes in England, did this day take and subscribe the Oaths to the government, Viz... Johannes Huppel... "List 53C, page 207). Johannes was listed as a member of a church east Coventry, first Reformed Church of Coventry, or Brownback's, 16 April 1743 (Futhey & Cope, History of Chester County," Call of the elders of the Reformed Church to Brother Lischy to their preacher... from our hearts signed our names ... Johannes Hubel..." Page 296). He resided Vincent Twp, Chester County Pennsylvania, 1744 -- 1746 (Cremers 30,000 acres, map, Leases to the Penn Heirs, John Hipple 137 acres). Johannes's will was probated Orphans Court, Philadelphia County Pennsylvania, 4 May 1749 (Although there is no absolute proof, it is concluded that Johannes Hippell had five sons. This is determined by (1) their estimated ages based on married dates and/or birthdates of their children, (2) Lawrence Hipple is named executor or in the administrations of both Johannes who died in 1749 and Johannes who died in 1760 as Guardian in Jacob's will, (3) both Johannes's were blacksmith's and (4) Adam and Heinrich were called "housekippers" in the elder Johannes" administration in 1749, indicating they were young and still living at home); and Johannes Hippell, probate file). Johannes Hippell had the following children: 2 i. Jacob was born before 1720 3 ii. Johannes was born in circa and 1726 4 iii. Laurentz was born 27 Jan 1728 iv. Adam was born Germany circa 1729 (Adam appears on Vincent Twp tax lists beginning 1749 -- 1750 so was 21 years of age). Addam immigrated 9 September 1738 with his father. Destination: Philadelphia, PA. He emigrated, 1754. Point of origin: Vincent Twp Chester County Pennsylvania (Adam disappears from the Vincent tax lists after 1753. Rumor says he went to Canada). v. Heinrich was born Germany 1735 (Henry first appears on Pikeland taxlists in 1756 so was the 21 at that time). Heinrich died 1758: 1765 Chester County, Pennsylvania, at 23 years of age (Henry disappears from Pikeland tax lists by 1765). Heinrich immigrated, 9 September 1738 with his father. Destination: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Heinrich was unmarried. ******************************************************************************
