"Couple Weds in Church LaCrescenta--The Montrose Holy Redeemer Catholic
Church was the setting for the wedding of Miss Regina Machtolf, popular member
of the Young People's Club of the church, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Machtolf,
and Verne MacArthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. John MacArthur, Saturday, with the Rev.Patrick
Healy, pastor, officiating. The bride wore a white satin gown made with leg
o'mutton sleeves. A train completed the gown. The bridal veil was fingertip
length, finished with a halo of gardenias. A shower bouquet of gardenias and
lilies of the valley was carried by the bride. Acts as Matron of Honor Mrs.
Clara Hedges was matron of honor. She wore a royal blue moire silk gown and
carried white flowers. Mrs. Gerald Folbe of San Fernando and Mrs. Kaye Conver
of Glendale were bridesmaids. They wore gold-colored frocks and carried Talisman
roses. The three attendants wore halo hats of maline and velvet with seed pearl
trim.(Marriage Cert. says James C. and Janette Hedges, 3328 Prospect, LaCrescenta,
were witnesses.) Other attendants Clare Hedges was best man, and ushers were
Gerald Folbe and Reggie Jones, the latter from Sunland. Mrs. Machtolf wore
a burgundy-colored velvet frock. Mrs. MacArthur chose a black lace gown. While
blossoms and palms decorated the church, the white, gold, and green color scheme
was carried out at the Machtolf home, 2857 Mayfield, where a reception, attended
by 150 guests, was held. The three-tiered cake was cut by the bride. Gifts
were displayed. Leave on Trip For her wedding trip, Mrs. MacArthur wore a rose-colored
frock with black accessories. Following their return, Mr. and Mrs. MacArthur
will reside at 3138 Prospect, where he has just completed a new home. Mrs.
MacArthur has lived in the valley for eight years and MacArthur fifteen years.
Both are graduates of Glendale High School."
