He died about 1855 in Fairplains, Montcalm Co. MI. At this first meeting of the school board of Fair Plains a petition, signed by Freeman A. Decker, Oliver Decker, Edward Decker, Jesse Decker, Joseph Decker, Ebenezer Salyer, and Luther R. Jenks, was presented, and in compliance with it the board formed District No. 3 He was elected constable in Apr 1850 and justice in 1854.

"Mrs. Eliza Arris, for many years a resident of this city, died last Friday after a short illness. Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock PM last Monday at the house conducted by Rev. H. N. Spear. Burial in Belding Cemetery."

"Died at the late home on Saturday Morning-was 60 years old"
Saturday Morning, December 30th, after several weeks of intense suffering, the spirit of Mrs Elizabeth Arris winged its flight from the earthly tabernacle to the mysterious vale beyond the tomb.
Deceased was born in Oakland County, Michigan, where the earlier part of her life was spent. 38 years ago she moved to Hubbardston where she lived until 17 years ago when she moved to this city; where she has since resided. Four children grown to maturity and an aged husband, Elijah Arris, survive her. The funeral was held at the late residence on Monday, Rev. H. N. Spear speaking the words of comfort to those now left behind. The remains were laid to rest in the Old cemetery."

William H. SALYER was born about 1848 in Michigan. He served in the military in 1865 from Grand Rapids, Kent Co., Mich.,. William H. Salyer also spelled Slayer enlisted in Company I, 21st
Michigan Infantry March 2, 1865 at Grand Rapids, Mi for 1 year of
service at age 17. He reached the regiment at Goldsboro, Nc on April
9, 1865. For some unspecified reason he was sent home and admitted to
Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan on July 17, 1865 and discharged
from the service 11 days later on July 29, 1865. He is buried in Green
