MYSTERY PHOTO SOLVED

I was going through some of Mom's old photos to update the web pages this winter and this is one I needed help with identifying. More will follow and please feel free to send me copies of some of your family photos if you want to contribute to the family page content.

Billy and Frederick guessed Aunt "Emmer" Hill (Amanda Luemma McCraw 1888-1979) who married Hendrix "Dick" Hill. That's who I thought it was too until I found the original photo. Sandy guessed Aunt Myrtle and I can see why, but the photo is too old to be Aunt Myrtle at that age.

I found the original photo and on the back it says, "Aunt Etta Combs. After searching the data base I saw that she was the wife of our Grandfather's only brother, Willy Combs. They are both buried up at Beamer Cemetery up behind the Old Home Place.

She was born Mary Etta Beamer but our parents new her as Aunt Etta. As you see in the photo she was well remembered as a great cook and always busy in the kitchen. I now remember Aunt Arlene and Aunt Myrtle showing me this photo and talking about her fondly.

Stay tuned for more COMBS Genealogy trivia later this Winter! Remember WE are the older generation now!

Stay in touch,

Ronnie
