Eddie Carty

TRP A 9th CAV 1st CAV Division
Feb 7, 1935 - Feb 3, 1967
CW2 "Ed" Carty
Flight Class 65-3W

This is a new page I'm working on to preserve the memory of my Cousin Eddie Carty. Eddie was just a few days shy of his 32nd birthday when he took off from Lowe Field Ft. Rucker Alabama with 2 pilot candidates on Feb 3, 1967. Sometime during that flight lesion something went terribly wrong and all 3 young men perished in a crash 6 miles North East of Ozark, Al. During a recent TDY visit to Ft. Rucker I had the opportunity to seek out some information about the events of Feb, 3, 1967 and had some good fortune thanks to the persistence of my work mates Jim Faughn and Rick Kozycki. A special thanks also goes out to Ed Brown of ATTC for finding information about the accident that happened 39 years ago.

"Aircraft experienced mast separation, crashed and burned in a swamp about 6 miles NE of Ozark while on a routine training flight from Ft. Rucker."
