Leone J. LAMBERT--Caro--Passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Caro Community Hospital. She was 89. She was born on November 9, 1910 at Platte Center, Nebraska. The former Leone Eilers married Roy Weldon and he preceded her in death in 1937. Leone moved to Michigan as a young wife and returned to Nebraska to attend business school. She then married Allen Lambert on November 18, 1950, at Puyallup, Washington. In addition to being a homemaker and enjoying all aspects of that life, she had been employed at the Detroit Edison Company and Sheridan's Dress Store. Leone was a devoted Lutheran and very active at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a longtime member. She is survived by her husband, Allen Lambert; one daughter and her spouse, Royeen and George Heins of Gladwin; twin sons, Thomas Lambert and Lynne Rose of Essexville and Terry and Marsha Lambert of Marshall; three grandchildren and spouses, David and Lisa Heins of Avenel, New Jersey, Tamra and Dale Allen of Racine, Wisconsin, Taylor Leigh Lambert of Caro; two sisters, Evelyn Stoutenburg of North Branch, Ruth Johns of Waterford Township; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her remaining siblings, Henry and Jack Eilers, Dorothy Anderson, Eleanor Keinknecht, Alvin and Harold Eilers. Funeral was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 16 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gerald Meyer officiating. Burial was in Indianfields Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Caro Community Hospital Endowment Foundation. Funeral Arrangements were made by the Collon Funeral Home in Caro.

Terry T. LAMBIE--Caro--Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 6, 2001, as the result of an accident. He was 52. He was born on June 20, 1948, in Detroit, and graduated from Schaefer High School. Terry was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. On October 8, 1988, Terry Lambie and Carrie Thibeau were united in marriage in Allen Park Terry was employed with the Detroit Edison Company. Recently he became a Free and Accepted Mason, having joined Caro Mt. Moriah Lodge #226. Mr. Lambie was very active in the Caro First Presbyterian Church, both singing in the choir and acting as a deacon. Terry enjoyed camping and loved activities with his family. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Lambie; three children, Lizabeth Lambie of Woodhaven and Nathaniel and Kellie Lambie, both at home; one grandson, Jimmy Tabor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Lambie. Funeral was held at Caro First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles Marquardt officiating. Keeping with Terry's wishes, cremation will follow the funeral. Arrangements made by the Collon Funeral Home in Caro.

Jim LARACEY--Caro--Passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Rendon's Young at Heart adult foster care home in Caro. He was 79. He was born on May 27, 1921, in Carrollton, and graduated from St. Andrew's High School. Jim then attended Michigan State University and received his bachelor's in broadcasting in 1943. He worked in Lansing at WJIM and then at WBCM and WWBC in Bay City. In 1962 he came to WKYO in Caro, doing both the Trading Post and the Pooch Parade. Jim married the former Wilma Eloise (Penny) Newsome on October 30, 1965, in Bay City. She preceded him in death on September 9, 1988. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an avid reader and collected Franklin Mint cars. He is survived by one daughter, Loreen Laracey of Saginaw; three step-children, Glenda Rivet of Burbank, Calif., Randall and Florence Rivet of Ypsilanti, and Daniel and Cherie Rivet of Tecumseh; and one grandson, Dan Rivet. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jean Laracey. Funeral will be held at Collon Funeral Home of Caro on Thursday, May 31 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiting. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Dr. Sidney LASELL, Retired Medical Missionary, Dies
Dr. Sidney L. LaSell, 73, retired medical missionary and elder of the Pasadena Presbyterian church, died suddenly following a heart attack late yesterday at his home, 336 West Bellevue Drive. Attendants at Emergency Hospital were called to the aid of the stricken man, but he was dead before the arrival of the ambulance. A graduate of Yale University and College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. LaSell spent 28 years in China as a medical missionary. He had been a resident of Pasadena for the past 15 years. He is survived by two sons, both doctors now serving with the armed forces, and a daughter. They are Lieut. Sidney L. LaSell Jr., United States Navy, and Lieut. Eldridge L. LaSell, United States Army. The daughter, Ethel, lives at home. Turner and Stevens Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Monte Joseph LASKER--Detroit--Died Saturday, June 9, 2001 in his daughter's home. He was 95. He was born Dec. 25, 1905 in South Bend, Ind. to Francis and Lydia (Dambacher) Lasker. He married Gertrude G. Wotzke Feb. 14, 1928 in St. Anne's Church, Detroit. She died Aug. 7, 1996. Mr. Lasker worked as a budget analyst for Chrysler Corp. retiring after 39 years. He was a former Little League Coach and Shelby Township volunteer fireman. Monte was an avid bowler and and pleasure golfer. He was a Lions Club member and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Detroit. Monte is survived by his daughters, Rose Marie (Johnny) Fodera of Clinton Township, Juanita (Donn) Petrak of Ocala, Fla., Marilyn (Cliff) Harlick of Warren, Carole Lasker of Detroit, Patt VanDyke of Sand Pointe; grandchildren, Sammy, Rose Ann, Johnny, Mary, Billy, Theresa, Michael, Nancy, Janet, David, Sue, Bert, Bruce, and Jamila; 19 great-grandchildren; cousin, Mildred (Walt) Bishop of South Bend; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Emil J. and Frank Lasker; sister, Marie Rudolph. Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Detroit with Rev. Norman P. Thomas officiating. Interment was in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East. Pallbearers for Mr. Lasker: Sammy Fodera, Johnny Fodera, Billy Fodera, Michael Fodera, Bert VanDyke, and Bruce VanDyke. Grover J. LAURIE--Cass City--Passed away Thursday morning, October 12, 2000 at his residence in Cass City. He was 88. He was born in Bad Axe, on March 30, 1912, the son of Wallace and Marion Gill Laurie. On March 16, 1938 he married Gladys Rose in Elkton. She preceded him in death May 12, 1993. They thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Mr. Laurie was a prominent dairy farmer all of his lifetime, a member of Tyler Lodge Number 317, Cass City. He was Elmwood Township Supervisor for many years, Tuscola County Road Commissioner for 36 years, and served on the Michigan Milk Producers Advisory Board. Surviving are his son, Jack and wife Betty Laurie of Cass City; grandchildren, Doug (Tammy) Laurie of Cass City, Dana (Garald) Bennett of Gagetown and David (Stephanie) Laurie, also of Cass City; great-grandchildren, Guthry and Evan Laurie, Jonathan, Rebecca and Lauren Bennett, and Maegan and Whitney Laurie; along with a brother, Tom (Millie) Laurie of Cass City; and a sister, Janet (Don) Martin of Gagetown. He was preceded in death by a sister, Christina Yates. Funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning, October 16 at Gagetown United Methodist Church with Rev. Alice Sheffield officiating , with interment in Elmwood Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at Gagetown Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday between the hours of 2-9 p.m. Mr. Laurie will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. The family has suggested memorials be directed to Gagetown United Methodist Church or Michigan FFA Foundation. Gagetown Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Clinton L. LAW--Cass City--Died Sunday, September 3, 2000 in Marlette Community Hospital. He was 83. He was born September 9, 1916 in Huron County to Lewis and Lottie (Wadsworth) Law. He married Margaret L. Merchant October 16, 1937 in Cass City First Presbyterian Church. Clinton was a dairy farmer until 1957. He bought Law Feed & Supply, later selling it to Farm Bureau but he continued as a salesman. He worked for Ralston Purina, Borden Chemical Company as business manager; and he retired from Caro Building Center in 1979 after 10 years. Clinton was a member of Cass City First Presbyterian Church, which he joined in 1932. He served as a deacon and elder. He was active in 4-H. Clinton enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and he enjoyed square dancing. He truly enjoyed caring for his beautiful lawn. Clinton is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Sherry (Wayne) Dillon of Cass City, Delbert (Shirley) Law of Whitmore Lake; grandchildren, Jeff (Julee) Dillon, Scott (Suzanna) Dillon, Elizabeth Law; great-grandchild, Jaydee Dillon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert Law; and sister, Gertrude MacCullum. Funeral service was held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 5 at Cass City First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Morningstar of Sandusky Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette or the Women's Association of Cass City First Presbyterian Church. Esther LEHMAN, 79, of Caseville died Thursday morning, Aug. 3, 2000, at Cherry Hill Haven, Traverse City, following a brief illness. She was born July 12, 1921, in Tonwanda, N.Y., to the late Frank and Rose (Gangler) Hahn and came to Michigan in her youth. On Feb. 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edward G. Lehman in Warren. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1984. They had been coming to the Caseville area for many years and retired here in 1980. She had been a cook with the Van Dyke School System for 30 years. She moved to Cadar, near Traverse City, several years ago to be close to her daughter for health reasons. Esther was a former member of St. Roch Catholic Church, the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary and a member of the Caseville American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are four children, Gloria Batzer and her husband, William, of Cadar, Frank Hanley of Sterling Heights, Kimburrlyn Gifford and her husband, Joseph, and Edward Lehman and his wife, Pam, all of Algonac; eight grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; her brother, Harry Hahn and his wife, Barbara, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and her sister, Frances Facca of Margate, Fla. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. The Rev. Fr. John Weis will officiate with burial in Columbia Township Cemetery, Unionville. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville, and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Elaine Helen LEWIS--Reese--Died Monday afternoon, October 9, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center, Harrison Campus in Saginaw. She was 62. She was born April 15, 1938 in Reese, daughter of Eleanor (Foerester) Felske-Sahr of Reese, and the late Erwin O. Felske. She graduated from Reese High School as salutatorian of her class in 1956, and later attended Bay City Junior College. She resided in Davenport, Iowa from 1959 to 1962, at which time she moved back to Frankenmuth area with her husband, Dr. Dariel A. Lewis, to help in his practice for many years. After a debilitating stroke in 1972, Mrs. Lewis had since resided at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Surviving in addition to her mother Eleanor and her stepfather, Walter Sahr of Reese, are her children, David D. Lewis of Hemet, CA and Shari E. Ehlers and her husband David of Parker, AZ; one granddaughter, Sara E. Lewis; her brother and sister, John T. Felske and his wife Shirley of Clinton, Conn. and Marilyn D. Crete of Frankenmuth; niece and nephew, Dawn Hauffe and Scott Felske; several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, October 13 from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Rev. Steven Siegel will officiate with burial to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Mrs. Lewis' family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home of Reese on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Richard H. LICH--Vassar/Millington area--Passed away Thursday, August 31, 2000 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He was 54. Richard was the son of Henry and Esther (Laux) Lich and was born on March 8, 1946 in Saginaw. He graduated from Vassar High School. Richard was employed at Classic Carbide Tool & Die for 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Richard leaves to cherish his memory, his family, four children, Kristi Lich of Vassar, Troy Lich of Millington, Kelly Lich and Brad Lich, both of Vassar; his mother, Esther Lich of Vassar; two grandchildren, Alysha and Kathy; one brother, Roger Lich of Texas; two sisters, Wendy Gave of Saginaw, Michelle Hill of Vassar. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Beth, and father, Henry. Headline: Young Dubois Woman Dies In Hospital
Miss Henrietta LIICHAUER, 21, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Liichauer, R. 1 Dubois, died in Stork's Hospital Sunday morning of uremic poisoning. She became ill last Wednesday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Steinkamp in Jasper, where she had been employed for about 3 weeks. Members of her family said that Miss Liichauer had been afflicted with diabetes since she was seven years old. Last Wednesday evening she called her parents, who reside on a farm between Dubois and Cuzco, to come and get her, as she was too ill to work and wanted to be at her home until she recovered. After arriving at her home, she lapsed into a coma, and never regained consciousnes. Miss Liichauer was born on the farm between Dubois and Cuzco June 15, 1925. She was graduated from Dubois High School and had lived at home until accepting the (continued on page 2--the newspaper skipped a few words here.) weeks before her death. Surviving besides her parents is a brother, Elmer. The body will be taken from the Beecher & Son Funeral Home here to the residence near Dubois this afternoon. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Dubois, with Rev. Walter Dickman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Marjorie LITTLETON--Reese--Died early Friday morning, June 29, 2001 at Tendercare of Cass City. She was 71. She was born on September 24, 1929 in Paris, Tennessee, daughter of the late John and Ida (Bunting) Linder. The former Marjorie Linder married Howard R. Littleton in December of 1949; he predeceased her on February 4, 1998. Mrs. Littleton had enjoyed gardening, camping and deer hunting with her husband. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Howard Littleton of Vassar, Harold and Patricia Littleton of Akron, Richard and Gail Littleton, John and Cookie Littleton and Curt Littleton, all of Reese; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One son, Charles "Chuck" Littleton, predeceased Mrs. Littleton on December 23, 1996. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel of Reese. Pastor Tony Jacobs of Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Vassar will officiate with burial in Blumfield Township Cemetery. Mrs. Littleton's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

She was born July 6, 1915, in Rosebush. daughter of Jay Benjamin and Lavina Blanch (Little) Varney. She married John Walthur Lootens May 31, 1936. She was a salesclerk demonstrator for Friendly Home Party. She is survived by her children, Henry (Dorothy) Lootens of Lake Odessa, Beverly Parker and Sonja Nichols, both of Mt. Pleasant, Barbara Marie Nichols of Gladwin, Leona (Eldon) Knight of Winterhaven, Fla., Patricia (Robert) Tupper of Mt. Pleasant and Joan Moore of Shepherd; 39 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Velma Varity of Afton, and Ruth Smith of Rosebush; sister-in-law, Jean Cullimore of Lansing. Gary A. LOUKS--Caro--Passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2000, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, as the result of an automobile accident. He was 62. He was born on June 2, 1938 in Caro. Gary was a Caro High School graduate and a United States Army veteran. He married the former Judy McCoon on September 15, 1962 at Caro. He was employed with CSX Railroad until his recent retirement. He enjoyed camping, singing in the church choir and sports. Gary loved his family, wife, kids and grandchildren, as well as his friends. He was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Judy Louks; his children, Christina and Vincent Wilson of Munith, Jerry Louks and Shannon Hubbel of Novi; three grandchildren, Anthony, Samantha and Madison; two sisters, one brother and their spouses, Arlene and J.D. Keller of Caro, Richard and Adeline Louks of Saginaw, Dorothy and Ray Johnson of Caro; a sister-in-law, Eunice Louks of Caro; his mother-in-law, Frances McCoon of Caro; his father-in-law and spouse, Dale and Ilene McCoon of Cass City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olin Louks in 1970 and Joyce Louks in 1994; one brother, William Louks in 1993; and his stepfather-in-law, Lyle McCoon in 1999. Mrs. Louise Jane MACDONALD--Kinde, Nov. 20--Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Jane MacDonald, aged 62, of Dwight township, were held from the Latter Day Saints Church in Dwight. Mrs. MacDonald died in Sandusky Saturday. Mrs. MacDonald is survived by her husband, two sons, two daughters, five brothers and four sisters. Burial was in New River Cemetery.

She came to Lakeland from Clare where she resided for 21 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Highland Park Church of the Nazarene where she was a greeter for 13 years; and a member of the Lakeland Shuffleboard Club for 15 years. Survivors include her husband, George C. Helen Salma McDURMON--Crossville, Tennessee--Passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a lingering illness. She was 71. Helen was born May 28, 1929 in Flint, the daughter of the late Lewis and Laura (Raishe) Carpentier. She was married to William McDurmon on May 11, 1960 in Joliet, IL. They lived in the Flint area until moving to Crossville, TN in January of 1991. Surviving besides her husband William, are one son, three daughters and their spouses, David Ackerman of Flint, Carol Isenhart of Crossville, TN, Brenda Hoffman and Fred Burrows of Crossville, TN and Mary Sue and Kurt Hemingway of Culleoka, TN; 10 grandchildren, Nikki and Don Dutcher, Robin Archer, Dustin and Jacob Hemingway, Roby Paris, Coby and Tia Ackerman, Chrisa Mattis Rachel Ackerman, Eva Marie Isenhart, Seth Ackerman; six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sherry Ross of Burton; a sister and her husband, Diana and Ted Luft of Vassar; and several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Cass City High School, attended college in Kansas, came to Caro to work at J.C. Penney and then managed the Gold Bond/Red Stamp Redemption Center. The former Beatrice McIntosh married Benedict Maier in 1974, and he preceded her in death. Together they started the Saginaw Landlord's Association where she was office manager until her retirement. She enjoyed her family and gardening. She is survived by one son and two daughters, Thomas and Lanette Van of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Debra Daniels and Norm Schussele of Campaign, Illinois, Kathryn and David Johnson of Caro; two grandchildren, David and Joseph; one great-granddaughter, Lakin; two sisters-in-law, Virginia and Bessie McIntosh; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Garnet, Vernon, Calvin and Edward McIntosh. A memorial service was held at Collon Funeral Home of Caro on Monday, September 4 at 2 p.m. with Tony Jacobs officiating. In keeping with Beatrice's wishes, cremation will take place. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were made by the Collon Funeral Home in Caro.

Joseph MALE--Cass City--Passed away Sunday, July 1, 2000. He was 83. He was born in New York on April 11, 1917, the son of Ignatz and Bernice Rydell Male. On December 31, 1936 he married Angeline Dingel in Union Lake, MI. Mr. Male proudly served with the US Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He owned and operated Shell Service Station in Union Lake for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He was an avid golfer. Surviving along with Angeline, his loving wife of more than 63 years, are their sons, Joseph Male of Millington and Donald (Nevis) Male of Sterling Heights; grandchildren, Joshua, Donald, Lindsay, Jackie, Joey and Maleena Hale; his brother, Chester (Dolores) Graycheck of Cheboygan; sisters, Millie Stanlake of Fresno, CA, Genevieve Bessler of Cass City, and Bernice (Jack) Lawrence of Union Lake; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, July 5 at Gagetown Funeral Chapel with Sr. Joan Maher officiating. Interment was in Novesta Township Cemetery under the auspices of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3644, Cass City. Memorials may be made to St. Pancratius Catholic Church. Gagetown Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blanche MARTIN--Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Martin, 91, of 9081 Center Rd., Fostoria, who died Friday at her home, took place Monday at Blackmore-Tubbs Funeral Chapel, Mayville. Burial was in Otter Lake Cemetery Blanche Wing was born June 13, 1876 in Camden and was married to Charles Martin on May 3, 1905, in Millington. He died April 10, 1946. Sheila Foley MARTINSEN--San Ramon, CA-Died Friday, April 21, 2000 in San Ramon, CA. She was 74. A memorial service was held April 26, 2000 in the Church of the Valley, San Ramon, CA. Sheila graduated from Millington High School in 1942. In 1943 she enlisted in the Canadian Army, being too young to join in the USA. In 1954 she married Weilhiem (Bill) Martinsen. She spent the rest of her life in California. Surviving are husband, Bill; son, Franz Martinsen; daughter, Sydney Martinsen Kern; granddaughter, Chelsie Kern, all of California; brothers, John (Gertrude) Foley of Millington, Gerald (Ethel) Foley of Bridgeport, Gordon Foley of Millington; sister, Karen (Bill) Sherman of Millington. She was preceded in death by brother, Neil and parents, John W. and Eileen Foley.

Michael G. (Mickey) METRO--Millington--Passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2000 at the Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. He was 67. Mickey was born on November 25, 1932 in Juniata Twp., and was the son of Joseph and Clara Metro. He was married to Janine Syring April 11, 1953. He was a graduate of Vassar High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He retired in January 1978 from General Motors Fisher Body, Coldwater Rd. Joseph T. MICHALAK--Caro--Passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at Covenant-Cooper in Saginaw. He was 78. He was born on November 12, 1921, at Wyandotte. Joseph Michalak and the former Lucille Kish were united in marriage on June 21, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. Joe moved to Caro as a teenager and enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War ll. Shortly after his return, he went to work for the Caro Regional Center, until his retirement. In addition to his membership at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he was a member of the Caro Council #3224 Knights of Columbus, State Employee Retirement Association, Tuscola County Polish American Club, an associate member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, and a life member of Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Richard and Gretta Michalak of Tawas City, Al and Karen Michalak of Caro, Roselyn and Kenneth Martin, Jr. of Cass City; six grandchildren, Brent, Wynn, Kellen, Andrew, Emily, Erika; one sister, Frances Gentz of New Boston; two sisters-in-law, Olive Michalak of Wyandotte and Mary Michalak of Monroe; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. The funeral was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, August 11 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. He and Frances F. Fuller were united in marriage May 21, 1932. She preceded him in death June 25, 2000. Otis worked as a farmer and retired from General Motors. Roy F. MILLER--Mayville--Went home to be with our Lord, Sunday, August 13, 2000 at Covenant Health Care Cooper in Saginaw. He was 60. Roy was born on December 21, 1939 in Saginaw and was the son of Roy J. and Lois (Smith) Miller. On September 23, 1978 he married Pat Betz. Together they celebrated 21 years of marriage. Roy was a resident of Mayville for 22 years. He was active as a 4-H Horse Club leader, loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Roy was employed at Delphi Steering Gear for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 1997. Roy leaves to cherish his memory, his family, wife, Pat, of Mayville; two children, Dana K. Miller and Roy Miller, at home; one brother and wife, Stephen and Tammy Miller; one sister and husband, Karen and Tom Federico, all of Saginaw; several nieces and nephews, and extended family. Caroline MURPHY Dies--Widow of late Dan R. Murphy Lived in Oregon 37 Years--Mrs. Caroline V. Murphy, a widow of the late Dan R. Murphy, and a resident of Portland for the last 37 years, died at her residence at 770 Johnson Street, Saturday afternoon. The cause of death was heart failure following an illness of several months. She was 57 years of age and is survived by two sons, Arthur A. Murphy and Adrian J. Murphy. Mrs. Murphy was born near Eugene in 1863 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Kennedy, early pioneers in Oregon. Her father came to Oregon by sailing vessel around Cape Horn in 1851, and her mother was a member of a party who crossed the plains from Iowa in 1852. As one of a large family, Mrs. Murphy lived for some years at St. Paul, Oregon, where she was married to Dan R. Murphy. Mr. Murphy was also the son of pioneer parents who had made the long journey by ox team to Oregon prior to 1851. Dan R. Murphy was for many years a prominent member of the legal profession in Portland and served as United States Attorney for Oregon. Funeral services for Mrs. Murphy will be held at St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral tomorrow morning at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
