He was born on August 29, 1876 near Azen, Scotland County Missouri to Henry Keck Rugh and Caroline Victoria (nee Terrell). He died of typhoid fever as a young man of only 22 years of age at his father's farm near Azen. He was buried at the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Scotland County.
