He was born in California to Harley Nelson & Beaulah (Pointer) Nelson. He is a grandson of Chase Nelson & Nellie (nee Rugh) Nelson who moved to California from Scotland County Missouri in 1928. Connie lives today with wife, Virginia (nee Fredendall) in Claremont California.
