Possible Interpretation (Oct 2002) of the old German script by Dr. Frank Deis of Rutgers University:
1717
Christian Merklin, Burger und Wagner zu Lambsheim cum uxore Anna
Catharina, [lispor] dr iiten Febr. 1717 ein Tochter ein tauften,
Gevatter waren: Johann Adam Baumann Burger und Brike daselbst
cum uxore Anna Franzina das kind heist, Anna Franzina.
Further interpretation of the old German by Mr. Philippe Brachet (Mar 2008):
1717
Christian Merklin, Burger und Wagner zu Lambsheim cum uxore Anna
Catharina, liessen den 11ten( elften
= eleventh) Febr. 1717 ein Töchterlein
tauffen, Gevatter waren: Johann Adam Baumann Burger und Becker( baker) daselbst
cum uxore Anna Franzina das kind heist(
= heisst), Anna Franzina.
Possible translation to English (a combination from the efforts of both gentlemen):
1717
Christian Merklin, citizen and cartwright* from Lambsheim with
wife Anna Catharina, 11 Feb 1717
a daughter baptized, godparents were:
Johann Adam Baumann citizen and baker(?) from the same place with
wife Anna Franzina. The child is called Anna Franzina.
*cartwright = wagon/coach maker/repairer
NOTE
This clearly shows us that the mother of Anna Franzina
Merkel was Anna Catharina NOT "Jemima Weurtz". ............................................. Phil
