Art (pictured at the right, above) was born on April 4, 1912 to Roy (William Roy) Knox & Della (Roseadelle) in Missouri.

He moved from Missouri to Kansas with his parents while still in infancy. He moved from Kansas to California with his mother, Della, when she separated from Roy Knox in 1923.

Art was in the grocery produce business, owning his own business in Los Angeles, California for many years.
