Charles (John Charles)2 Baker (John Adam1 Becker (Baker)) was born in Plainfield Twp., Northampton Co., PA. on March 8, 1794.(1927) He is known to have been one of the earliest settlers of Allen Township in Hancock County Ohio. He died on October 7, 1832 near Van Buren, in Ohio.(1928) He was buried at Bechtel Cemetery near Van Buren in Ohio.(1929)

He married twice. On October 21, 1818 in Ohio he married Mary (Anna Marie) Rugh.(1930) Mary (Anna Marie) Rugh was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on August 16, 1801.(1931) She was baptized on September 20, 1801 at Greensburg Lutheran Church in Greensburg. Baptismal sponsors listed were her grandparents, "Joh. Peter Ruch and Margaretha". It is possible that she was with husband Charles in Perry County, Ohio by 1820. A Charles Baker family appears in the US census there. The 1830 US census tends to indicate they were in Fairfield County Ohio by that time. Mary was the daughter of Peter (John Peter) Rugh (the Jr.) and Elizabeth (Elizabeth Barbara) Sachsmann (Saxman).

She died on June 13, 1830 at age 28 Yrs, 9 or 6 Mos, 29 da in Perry County or in Ohio.(1932) She was buried at Colfax - St. Mathews Cemetery in Pleasant Township, Fairfield County, Ohio.(1933) About 1831 in Fairfield County, Ohio he married Frances (Francina) Macklin.(1934) Frances (Francina) Macklin was born in Fairfield County, Ohio on March 7, 1808.(1935) She moved with her husband, Charles Baker, from Fairfield County, Ohio to a farm near what is now Findlay and Van Buren in Hancock County, Ohio. Frances and second husband, Jacob Rarick, eventually moved to Illinois. The 1860 and 1870 US census shows them living in Fox, Kendall County, Illinois. Frances was the daughter of Peter Macklin (Mechling) and Mary Boyer (Byers).

George Adam Baker was born in Perry County, Ohio on April 19, 1822.(1942) His father died when George was 10 years of age and he spent the remainder of his childhood with the family of his uncle Chris (Christopher) Rugh in Fairfield County, Ohio. George, with wife Margaret, moved to Hancock County Ohio in 1841. He died on October 21, 1869 in Allen Township, Hancock County, Ohio.(1943) He was buried at Bechtel Cemetery in Allen Township, Hancock County, Ohio.(1944) On April 15, 1840 in Ohio he married Margaret Weaks.(1945) Margaret Weaks was born in Ohio about 1822-1825.(1946)

child 6 iii. Elizabeth Barbara Baker was born in Perry County, Ohio on May 1, 1824.(1947) About 1845 she married Stephen Warner.(1948) Stephen Warner was born about 1820-1825.(1949)

child 7 iv. Solomon Baker was born in Perry County, Ohio on July 30, 1826.(1950) About 1845-1850 he married Delilah Emery.(1951) Delilah Emery was born about 1825-1830.(1952)

child 8 v. Susanna Baker was born in Ohio on July 21, 1828.(1953) She died on July 15, 1832 in Hancock County, Ohio.(1954)
