The Bible Records of
Hezekiah M. and Rebecca Reid Wells Pickens

Copies of the records,
courtsey of Barbara Foster of North Carolina

The transcript that you are about to read are taken from copies of original bible records belong to the Hezekiah Middleton and Rebecca Reid Well Pickens Family Bible. Some of the material is extremely hard to read. For this reason, I have did not use the scans of the documents, instead I transcribed them. However, if you would like to view the scans please click on the hilited page numbers. These scans have been electrically manipulated, no editing, but they have been gamma corrected so that they are readable.
Below is the note that Barbara sent with the files, explaining some of the history of the Bible.
Jan. 9, 2002
_____John,
_____Here are the copies of Hezekiah's Bible pages, poor though they are. (I'm enclosing a copy of the email where I typed them up to send to a 3rd cousin in California.
_____Do you have any idea how the Higgins, Carrs 7 Wilsons might be related? I'm also not sure why Rebecca refers to her husband as Hezekiah M. Pickens, but herself as Rebecca Wills or Wells (that names was so fade in the Bible as to be nearly illegible, but it came out in the color copy).
_____The Bible barely survived the gainesville tornado in the 1920's & was soaked. I assume the title page came out then. I have no idea when or why the bottom of page 836 was torn out. The bible came to my dad about 1981 after Charels Chandler, Gretchen's son, died. His widow felt it belonged to someone named Pickens in the direct male line.
_____I think we have figured out most of the names in the Bible from 877 or (except how the Higgins, Carrs & Wilsons fit in) Except Lucinda Pickens, who lived only a few days.
