Will of John Oxlade of Walters Ash , Parish of Bradenham, Yeoman

In the Name of God Amen.I John Oxlade of Walters Ash in the parish of Bradenham in the County of Bucks (Yeoman) being Aged but in reasonable health and of sound mind and memory and understanding I praise God for the same Doo make & ordeyne this my last Will & Testament in manner following (viz) my Soul I commend to God hoping to be saved thro the merritt and mediation of my Blessed Saviour and my body I remitt to the earth to be buried decently at the discretion of my Exec and as to my worldly Estate as God hath blessed me with I thus Dispose thereof Imprs I give and devise unto my daughter MARTHA the wife of John TAYLOR for the terme of her natural life one ful undivided moity of all my messuage ffarmes land & heriditaments within the parishe of WEST WYCOMBE and BRADENHAM in the County of Bucks to hold to her for the terme of her natural life she permitting not waste or spoyle therein and keeping all the same premises or moiety in sufficient (tenanted )repair and from immediately after her decease or other determination of her Estate then I give & devise the same one full and undivided moiety of all my said messuage ffarms of land & hereditaments in the Parish of West Wycombe and Bradenham aforesaid & unto my grandaughters Elizabeth & Ann TAYLOR (the two daughters of my said daughter Martha Taylor) to both to them for during the terme of ther natural lives and the life of the longest lived of them they keeping all the same moiety in good sufficient reasonable repairs and not permitting any wast or spoyle therein and from and after the decease of the survivor of my said two Grandaughters or after termination of their Estate then I give and devise all the same full undivided moiety of all my said messuages land and hereditaments situate in the parishe of West Wycombe and Bradenham aforesaid & unto my grandson Joseph SPRINGALL to his heirs and assignees forever Item I give and devise unto my said grandson Joseph SPRINGALL & his heirs and assignees forever all the full and undivided moiety or half part of all my said messuages ffarmes lands & hereditaments and all other my freehold estate ................. wheresoever Item It is my Will and intent that all the Legacies hereinafter given by me in the ............ and out of all my whole messuage ffarms lands & heriditaments notwithstanding anything ................. and with the same Legacies shall respectively & severally ... me one Item I give to my Daughter Elizabeth SPRINGALL one shillingto be paid forthwith after my Decease Item I give to my daughter Mary ..........(possibly PEAKE/PIKE, her second marriage ?) one shilling to be paid forthwith after my decease Item I give to my widow daughter Katherine WOODROOFE the sum of ( ten ) pounds to be paid to her within one year next after my decease and I give more to her theresaid ....... ... of the yearly summe of five pounds during her natural life to be paid to her quarterly with .... the 21st Day of December the 25th Day of March the 24th Day of June & the 29th Day of September the first payment of the said yearly summe of five pounds to be made on such of the said Daies as shall next happen within three months after the said ..... legacy shall become due by this my will with said (ten) pounds & yearly summe of five pounds & which shall be paid .... & free from all deductions for taxes or other matter whatsoever Item I give to my daughter Ann (JERVIE) one shilling to be paid forthwith after my decease Item I give to my Grandson John PIKE the summe of twenty pounds to be paid to him within eight years after my deceaseItem I give to my grandson Thomas WOODROOFE twenty pounds to be paid to him within (ten) years next after my Decease Item I give to my Godson John OXLADE the son of James OXLADE) the summe of ten pounds to be paid to him within twelve years after my decease and my Will is that if either or any of ye Legatees above named dye before him or her or their Legacy or Legacies become due in such case the same ....... & not be paid & with Legacy & annuity when one shall be paid clear of all ded(ductions)out of my said reall Estate Item I give to my said daughter Martha TAYLOR the Bed I finally dye on with ye Bed & Bed sheet Bedding & all thereto belonging Item I give to the said Martha my daughter my new( Trunk) & stand thereto & a small cupboard Item I give more to John PIKE my Grandson,one (chest) with all the (service) & Brasse therein & one spit & one great Kettle & one porridge pott Item I make and Ordaine my said Daughter TAYLOR & my said Grandson Joseph SPRINGALL the full & sole Exect of this my Will to Whom I give all my personall Estate (not otherwise heretofore given) they paying thereout my Debts & funerall expenses and I revoke all former Wills by me heretofore made & declared this to be my only & my last Will & Testament In Testimony whereof I have hereunto put my hand & seale this Eighth Day of December1717 and in the ..... year of King George

An Inventory of all Singular the Goods Chattells & Credirs of Mr John OXLADE late of the pish of Bradenham in the County of Bucks given Decld Taken & appraised the 30th Day of September the year 1720: by Robert WADE & Martin JANES Appraisors for the ..... valuation thereof as followeth (viz)

Imprs the wearing apparoll of the deceased 1 00 00

Money at Interest 100 00 00

One Bedstead bed & beding all thereunto belonging 3 00 00

2 yards & a 1/2 of broad Cloath 10 00

2 pair of fflannell Sheets and sundry other odd things 15 00

2 old( trunks) & a stand 7 old boxes & one old stool 12 00

one cupboard and leather chair 5 old books & 2 (hammers) 5 00
