Primative Methodists
The
British Primative Methodists merged with the Wesleyans and with what
was then called The United Methodist Church in 1932 to form the
British Methodist Church.
The Prims and the United Methodists
had a history of more democratic church governance and a 'low' view
of ordination. The Wesleyans had retained a lot more power in the
hands of ministers and did see ministers' ministry as different in
kind from the rest of the church - but that point of view had
softened enough by 1932 to allow union to take place. The theology of
ministry and who should have authority was the great division
historically amongst British Methodists.
What seems to be
historically different about the Primitive Methodists in Britian
versus the Primitive Methodist in the US is that the British
Primitive Methodists were theologically quite liberal at the
beginning of the 20th century. They were liberal theologically and
low church - which is counter to the norm in the UK. The Wesleyans
were 'high' (for Methodists) and theologically more conservative.
I
am not aware of any links between the British Primitives and the US
Primitives other than the name. I know that the British Prims took
the name from Wesley and I'm assuming that the US Primitives did the
same, but it appears that the reasons for being and the identities
are/were quite different on either side of the Atlantic.

Primitive
Methodist has an interesting History & the USA and UK are quite
linked in that denomination.
In 1807 Methodist missionaries
from the USA took the Camp Meeting to England and began the Primitive
Methodist Church there. In a bit of reverse missionary activity
missionaries from England arrived in the USA in 1829 to minister to
Welsh & English Immigrants. The Primitive Methodist church began
officially in 1840. Between 1829 & 1840 the Primitive Methodist
Church in America was a mission of the Primitive Methodist Church in
England.
Most of the Primitive Methodist Churches in the USA
are in the North East.
