Wendy TAPPINGs OXLADE info. Some years ago Peter H OXLADE purchased the Marriage Cert of George OXLADE a Butler & Mary Ann EVANS 3 Jun 1857 Islington. They were shown only as of full age. Fathers William OXLADE a Carpenter & John EVANS a Gardener. At the time I took him to be the son of William OXLADE and Eleanor WALLER. I feel that the parents were most probably Richard OXLADE and Elizabeth SWAIN. Richard had died when George was 12 and perhaps like many people he didn't know his father's Christian Name. Alternatively according to the various Census he was around 19 when he married not of full age as stated and perhaps he deliberately gave a wrong name. Another possibility is that the father was William OXLADE of Cookham who was at times a Carpenter & Grocer and had one son Christened in Southwark, however if George is telling the truth in the Census regarding his age, there is no "space" for him in William's family unless he was a twin.
Sarah Louisa OXLADE died 1 Oct 1891 St George Hanover Square Hospital.
Edith May PEASNELL 2nd ? wife of George OXLADE (1845-1933) Bradenham married 1914 Wycombe and had daughter Nellie A OXLADE 1914 wycombe ?
John OXLADE married Phoebe CUTLER 1850 St George, Hanover Square & appears in 1851 Census working for Ann STELTON at Marylebone. He would have been a widower by then.
BARNETT connected to the OXLADEs through the marriage of Sarah Jane OXLADE and John Henry WILKEY in 1865 S.A.
Susan HASKINS as possible wife of John Huson OXLADE
James NORTH as possible husband of Ellen Elizabeth OXLADE
Eleanor OXLADE & John GURNEY
Robert Johnathan OXLADE of Surrey
Robert OXLADE of Chatham
Robert OXLADE of Great Marlow died Islington.
2 Mar 2006 Robert OXLADE of Great Marlow married Mary ROSE of High Wycombe, 16 Oct 1780 High Wycombe and had several children Christened at Great Marlow. It appears that Mary ROSE died abt. 20 Oct 1788 Great Marlow and Robert OXLADE then married Mary BUTLER, a widow. It is possible that she married under her Maiden Name as there is a Christening which fits with the age at Death.
Mary OXLADE (1820 Cadmore End) dau of Johnathan OXLADE & Elizabeth BRAZIER married John WAITMAN ( abt.1823 Cookham Deane) not Benj. EMMETT in 1850 Cookham, Berks. 24 Feb 2006 Reading of the new publication of the 1851 Census on Ancestry.com cast doubt on this and purchase of the Marriage Certificate by Lorna NASH wife of POLLARD has shown the bride to be Mary Ann BROWN.
So it seems that Mary /Mary Ann OXLADE married John WATEMAN/WAITEMAN and appears in the 1851 Census as Mary born abt. 1819 Cadmore End, Oxon and was living with her husband an Ag Lab at Cookham DEANE, Berks. In the 1861 1881 Census his wife is recorded as Eliza born 1825 Great Marlow where they were now living. In the Registration District of Windsor Sep Qtr of 1857 a Mary Ann WHITEMAN was recorded as having died. However the Index at this time does not show the Deceased age. It is likely that Mary OXLADE was the daughter of Johnathan OXLADE and Elizabeth BRAZIER Christened Fingest of Saunderton.
Mary Ann OXLADE (1822 Norwood/Dulwich) dau of George OXLADE and Mary Ann married Samuel SQUIRREL 22 Sep 1850 St James, Paddington, London.
Mary Ann OXLADE dau of Will OXLADE and Phoebe RANCE 1832 (Cookham) married Benj EMMETT. Error he married Mary Ann BROWN {See below}
Mary Ann OXLADE (1835 Lane End) dau of Richard OXLADE and Charlotte LEE ? (or was this the daughter of William OXLADE and Phoebe RANCE ?) married George STREET 1858 Cookham,Berks? and had some connection with Richard WYE whom her father named in his Will.
Mary Ann OXLADE (1836 Wooburn [near Cookham] )married Robert CROSS (1830-1834 Winkfield, Berks)1856 Romford, Essex ? {Robert OXLADE & Charlotte LEE & daughter Mary Ann OXLADE lived in Winkfield}
Richard OXLADE and Mary Briant PLUMRIDGE
Jane OXLADE & Thomas OXLADE children of Aaron OXLADE & Mary TRUSS not Richard OXLADE & Eliz. DEANE. 1851 Census & Great Marlow Parish Records sorted this out.
Mary OXLADE 1798 Widmer Farm was the wife BRIGGINSHAWof not Mary OXLADE of Cadmore End dau of Johnathan OXLADE & Martha WHITE
Mary OXLADE who married Thomas BRIGINSHAW/BRIGKNSHAW was in fact the daughter of Robert Johnathan OXLADE and Mary GOUGH not as I THINK I had it, Johnathan OXLADE and Martha WHITE

Mary OXLADE Christened 9 Mar 1798 Great Marlow dau of Robert Johnathan OXLADE and Mary GOUGH --- PROBABLY married Thomas BRIGENSHAW (1802 Great Marlow/Taplow - 1852 Eton) around 1825 then moved to Burnham and later Eton and POSSIBLY in London in 1881 though there is a Death Registration for New Windsor Jun Qtr 1871
Robert Johnathan OXLADE was the third son of Johnathan OXLADE and Mary GAGE so didn't inherit Widmer Farm. He seems to have been shown as a Grocer in the Posse Comitatus.
Interestingly, his father was a second son but somehow was favoured over his elder brother Robert OXLADE who was left a pound and a shilling in his fathers Will and no more than I have provided for him in life. Old John OXLADE left Robert's sons the same amount to be given at age 21 then in a Codicil changed the second grandsons inheritance to his small silver cup with 2 handles.
His wife may have objected to the first Will as she is removed as Co-executor with son Johnathan in the Codicil.
From
Roger BLINKO: As Susan and I have corresponded on this several times
I'm pleased to finally clarify that my 2G grandfather John Oxlade

1841 Census information : William OXLADE (1819-1887) and his parents Also his DALLIMORE connections through his wife Mary Ann COLLING. Robert Johnathan OXLADE (1784-1866) and son Freeman (1813-1878) and possibly a daughter Jane who may though be the daughter of Aaron OXALDE and Mary TRUSS (1775-1842) Christened 1807. Mary TRUSS widow of Aaron OXLADE with Maria (who appears to have married Freeman OXLADE in 1844 Westminster, London) and Thomas sharing a house or household with Robert Johnathan OXLADE
PLUMRIDGE
To introduce myself : Peter Plumridge, a direct descendant of William Plumridge and Mary, Thomas and Hannah, thence via Jonathan -
together with my Gt. Grandfather Jonathan, George and Reuben are shown also as sons of Thomas and Hannah.
I suggest instead George and Reuben were sons of a William and Mary, nee Braishier, Mary being a younger sister of Elizabeth Oxlade, nee Braishier,( my Hannah was of course another sister of Elizabeth ). William and Mary marr. 7/4/1828 ( Fingest P.R.).
What leads me to believe that George and Reuben shown in the Census Returns 1841 and 1851 as nephews in the Oxlade household might have been the sons of William and Mary?
In the burials, Fingest P.R. 5/4/1837 there is a William aged 42 and Mary 29/6/1840 aged 39---that ties in withMary's bpt. 14/3/1801, Fingest.
So if the boys'parents were William and Mary they were orphaned young and went off to live with Aunt Elizabeth (Oxlade).
Interestingly there is a marr. cert.2/7/1859 of a Reuben, the son of a William Plumridge, Reuben's age, 26, ties in sufficiently well with the 1841 and 1851 Census Returns also a bpt. 6/10/1833 (I.G.I) q.v. The marriage was to Dinah Cross, 37, at Wooburn---a bit distant but the pair are revealed as being together in the 1881 Census index at Wycombe, Reuben having been born at Watercroft near the Cadmore End -West Wycombe boundary, Reuben's age is just slightly out----that's the way of Census Returns! The above suggests to me that the George and Reuben in the Oxlade household (assuming they were indeed brothers) were on balance the offspring of William and Mary and not Thomas and Hannah.
Quite separately I see some of the Plumridge info. appears to be attributed to me, no quarrel with that (apart from George and Reuben----the info. on them being from A.N.Other presumably) however a b has crept into my name ; if this falls within your sphere of activity can my name be corrected from Plumbridge to Plumridge please.
Further I note the reference to Elizabeth Oxlade as the informant on the deaths of Thomas and Hannah, she being shown as the sister and sister in law respectively, i.e. as the death certificates I hold, however in this context the site also shows her as the wife of Joseph Oxlade ---- I submitthat this is another Elizabeth Oxlade, and not the one who was the informant, why? Because the marr. cert. of Joseph and Elizabeth nee Plumridge 25/10/1840 shows Elizabeth's father to have been John Plumridge and not William as one would have expected to see for a sister of Thomas: maybe there's a story here I have yet to discover. This correction was omitted from this uploading.
Re Elizabeth OXLADE who Witnessed the Deaths of Thomas PLUMRIDGE and his wife Hannah BRAZIER
It is possible that this is Elizabeth PLUMRIDGE (1792-1871) widow who married George OXLADE (1812-1878) 23 Feb 1835 Fingest, Bucks. George OXLADE (who was 20 years younger than Elizabeth) was the nephew of Johnathan OX:ADE whose was the brother-in-law of Hannah BRAZIER. It may be that Elizabeth was the widow of Thomas PLUMRIDGES brother Richard.
