...
The Kirkpatrick Family is an old Gilmer County West Virginia Family.
Robert Kirkpatrick was a major land holder and as such served on the
Jury for William the Slave. Information on this can be found at the
Gilmer County Court House. During the Civil War Robert was an old
man. When the Confederates passed through Stewarts Creek they took
Robert and a cow. Robert was never seen again. There is no death
certificate. The story has been passed down through our family. My
father Glenn Kirkpatrick was a wonderful story teller. This was a
story given to him by his Grandmother Helen Raikes-Kirkpatrick.
