"Mary Ella Pugh was born in 1854 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, USA, and died in 1934 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She married on 18 December 1875 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Dr. George Phelan Blundell (born 14 March 1847 at Benton, Mississippi, died 12 February 1919 at Yazoo City, Mississippi).
Mary E. Pugh (Blundell) was an original member of Mary Brickell Circle of the Kings Daughters and Sons organized at Yazoo City in 1887, and was a great gardener with lovely roses and other flowers in her yard.
Mrs. Blundell's father was William E. Pugh (born 29 August 1805 Suffolk, Virginia, died 08 March 1858 in Yazoo City, Mississippi), son of Henry Pugh (died 1824) and Anne Riddick (born 16 Oct 1783), from Gatesville, North Carolina. William E. Pugh was married to Martha E. Mitchell (born 17 November 1830 Carroll County, Tennessee, died 05 January 1893 in Memphis, Shelby County), was a pioneer lawyer, and leading citizen of Yazoo City, when that progressive town was known as Manchester."
