"George David Pugh was born 4 Apr 1880; died 4 Jun 1944. This photo was taken about 1898 ~1899, possibly just prior to his entering the Spanish American War with active service in the Phillipines, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
On Thanksgiving Day, 25 Nov 1904, George married Grace Lenora Barlett. Grace was born 11 Mar 1888; died 24Aug1939 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. They were divorced in 1916.
George and Grace had eight children, the youngest of which was my paternal Grandmother, Hazel Lucille Pugh born 24 Oct 1906 in Bridgeport, Fairfield County, CT; died 26 Jan 1987 in Somerset, Pulaski Co., KY.
Note: The surname PUGH was changed to PRUGH around 1900-1904, although it remains unclear as to how or why the change came about.
George's parents were John Randolph Pugh born 1853; died 27 Nov 1890; and Elizabeth Read born 4 Mar 1853; died 20 Jan 1939."
