- Day ... 05Jan2000 ... Hi Day
Researcher! My name is Billy G. Mitchell in Tx. My
GGGrandad was John Day - wife Lucy (Howard)
Day . My GGrandad married one of their daughters Martha
Ann Day on Dec. 25 , 1850 in Franklin Co. Tn. His
name is George Washington Mitchell. Another one of their
daughters was Pamelia. I have a little more info
that I can pull up to help.
Supposedly John was from N.
Car. and Lucy from S. Car. or vice-versa . John was born
1799 - Lucy 1801 . This was a large family that GGrandad
married into and came to Tx. with in 1851 and settled in
Shelby Co., Tx. near Center, Tx.
I have visited their gravesites at North Jerico Cemetary
north of Center, Tx. I have a copy of John and Lucy's
sale of their farm in Franklin Co. Tn. I will share what
info. I have. One of their sons was a teacher and
postmaster in Shelby Co., Tx.
If anyone has something on
this family to share; it will be appreciated!
I also have William Henry Harrison Day's Southern
Cross of Honor - probably not related - he was from
Lexington, Va. served in the 5th Va. Infantry (Stonewall's
Brigade) I have researched him some. I'm willing to share
info. on what I have with anyone interested. THANKS,
Billy G. Mitchell at E-Mail.

We are researching the Day family (originating from the
Irish Ua Déaghaidh) of New England and the Stevenson
family of New England and Prince Edward Island. Other
surnames in this tree are Sawyer and Houston. We have
little specifics of the Day family, except that an
ancestor came from Ireland, probably in the mid-1800's to
Boston, then migrated to West Virginia. We believe the
next generation moved back to Massachusetts. A missing
link we are seeking is Judge William Henry Day, who
family lore says was a Superior Court Judge in Roxbury,
Mass around 1910. He was married to Mary Jane Murray and
had three children: Nellie, Maude and Ralph. Someone of
that family (Ralph's son?) went back to Ireland in the
1960's and traced their roots, bringing back a Coat of
Arms. Unfortunately the families of the two brothers,
William Henry Day and Harry Edward Day, had a
falling out, and the two families are estranged. My
husband, Bill, who is descended from Harry Edward Day,
has early memories of visits with cousins, but at some
point that stopped. We would be interested in hearing
from anyone with more information from that side of the
Day family. Margy Day, San Diego, California USA at E-Mail.
