Henry DAY ... Seeking parents and siblings of Henry Day,
b. ca 1775 probably in Surry County, North Carolina.
Later lived in Stokes County after it was formed from
Surry. Married Hannah Graham (Grayham) on marriage
license from Stokes Co., NC, in 1800. Hannah was the
daughter of Thomas and Cassandra Graham. Henry and Hannah
moved to Logan Co., KY, between the time of their
marriage and 1810 because Henry is listed in the 1810
census of Logan County, Kentucky. Henry died in 1821, and
in 1828, Hannah moved with her sons Thomas, Henry Jr.,
and Phillip and her unmarried daughters to Morgan Co., IL.
Later lived in Scott Co., IL. The oldest son, Richard,
settled near Vandalia in Fayette Co., IL.
I descend from Phillip, born in Logan Co., KY, in 1819.
He married Nancy Allen, daughter of Nathan and Aletha
Doyle Allen, in Greene Co., IL in 1841. I believe James
Day to be the father of Henry, although it is possible
that Thomas is his father.
Any help would be appreciated. A. J. Day at E-Mail.

Jacob DAY ... Born. 6-2-1789 in Succasunna, Morris
County, New Jersey; d. 11.18.1873, Hackettstown, Warren
County,
New Jersey. OBITUARY: Mr. Jacob Day was probably the
oldest man in this vacinity and today his friends pay him
the last sad rites as he is sacredly placed in Union
Cemetery. He was born in Succasunna, Morris County, on 2nd
day of June, 1789, and resided there until the year 1812
when he moved to Hackettstown and took possession of the
house on the corner of Main and Center Streets, now
belonging to W. L. and G. W. Johnson. He commenced
building, where J. H. Curtis' house now stands, and by
industry and integrity of purpose was successful land won
the confidences of the people. He connected himself with
the Hackettstown Presbyterian Church at this time, and
son, thereafter, was ordained Elder, which position he
always filled in an acceptable manner. In 1818 he and ex-governor
Vroom, (who died on the same day) established the first
Sunday School in this region, in the old yellow house
known as the Grear property, the site on which now stands
the house of Mrs. Van Scriver. In 1820 he built an
addition to his shop and inverted it into a dwelling
house, and purchased the place where Mr. Thomas
McCracken's house stands and used that as a shop. About
this time he dug the famous well so well known by
everyone in town. In 1842 he moved to his farm near this
borough where he has since resided. He has been spared to
his family; many years has exerted a good influence in
the community living on an upright consistent Christian
life and doing good wherever it was his opportunity so to
do. Jacob Day died November 18,1873. Any information is
appreciated.
