- Day ... 10Sep2000 ... Judge
William Henry DAY ... We are researching the Day family (originating
from the Irish Ua Déaghaidh) of New England and the
Stevenson family of New England and Prince Edward Island.
Other surnames in this tree are Sawyer and Houston. We
have little specifics of the Day family, except that an
ancestor came from Ireland, probably in the mid-1800's to
Boston, then migrated to West Virginia. We believe the
next generation moved back to Massachusetts. A missing
link we are seeking is Judge William Henry Day, who
family lore says was a Superior Court Judge in Roxbury,
Massachusetts around 1910. He was married to Mary Jane
Murray.
3 CHILDREN of Judge William Henry DAY and Mary Jane
MURRAY:
Nellie ... Maude ... Ralph.
Someone of that family (Ralph's son?) went back to
Ireland in the 1960's and traced their roots, bringing
back a Coat of Arms. Unfortunately the families of the
two brothers, William Henry Day and Harry Edward Day, had
a falling out, and the two families are estranged. My
husband, Bill, who is descended from Harry Edward Day,
has early memories of visits with cousins, but at some
point that stopped. We would be interested in hearing
from anyone with more information from that side of the
Day family.

- Day ... 02Dec2000 ... James T, DAY born June 11,
1844 in Twiggs County, Georgia. He is listed with his
mother Emily Day on the 1850 census. Also listed is
Carolyn Day age 16, Isaac M Day age 12, William Day age 2,
John A Day age 4, and Mary Day age 5. All the children

Carolyn, I believe married James LILES. Issac lived with
them. William lived with Richard UPCHURCH. Any
information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Olivia at E-Mail.
- Day ... 05Dec2000 ... Oscar DAY ... I am looking

- Day ... 05Dec2000 ... John DAY ... I am looking
for information about a John Day, born about 1760 in
Virginia, married a Frances CHILDERS (also born abt 1760),
and moved to Mercer County, Kentucky by 1790, and by 1814
to Grayson County, Kentucky.
CHILDREN included: Edmond (1780-) ... Nancy (1782- ) ...
Sarah (1784- ) ... William (1786- ) ... Rebecca (1788- )
... Elizabeth (1790-)
... Mary (1793- ) ... John Jr. (my gg-grandfather:
born 1796 Mercer County, Kentucky, died 1866 Hancock
County, Illinois) ... Frances (1800- ).
Does anyone have any information about the ancestry of
this John Day and/or Frances Childers? I have the line
from John Jr. on down fairly complete, but have no
information at all on the generations before them. Please
contact me at E-Mail.
Thank you! Robert W. Upshaw.

- Day .. 06Dec2000 ... Laura F. DAY ... born 1853
New Orleans, LA and died in Morrisville, Polk, Missouri
in 1880. She married Reverend Samuel McGinnis GODBEY bef.
1880. She died on 'perperal fever' (septicemia or blood
toxins due to child birth).
PARENTS: George S. and Theresa DAY. I have no idea if DAY
is Theresa's maiden name. This is ALL I have on Laura,
and is found in the Methodist archives library in
Fayette, Missouri.
It is suspected that Laura was born in
transit somewhere, somehow. There isn't a large
population of DAYs' in the area of New Orleans and
especially in the 1850 time frame. However, there is a
rather HUGE population of them in the SW Missouri area,
Polk County, Missouri. BUT...BUT, I connect to other DAYs
and there are Laura's here as well...but NONE of them
connect to this Laura. SSSSSoooooo....what is suspected
is that George and Theresa were maybe moving to the SW
Missouri area to be with relatives of some sort, came
down the river...had baby Laura and moved into SW
Missouri.
Here is a kicker that is added in, and am
hoping someone can help. My grandmother (Uncle Sam
GODBEY's neice by his second marriage) was
best friends with and called them 'Uncle Ralph and Aunt
Ethel DAY'. I suspect somehow that Ralph DAY is tied in
with Laura. I know nothing, have
nothing, and don't know anyone who is tied in with Ralph
and Ethel DAY either. Mike at E-Mail.
- Day ... 23May2001 ... Thomas J. DAY ... born in
Essex England later 1800's, Senator of Nebraska. Married
Margaret Anne Rice. Moved from the United States to
Canada around the early 1900's. Had fourteen children. I
am their great grandaughter. Any info, please get back to
me. Thank you!
Jeannie at E-Mail.
