The Owen Smith Cemetery is located behind the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch which is about 7 miles east of Hahira, Georgia on highway 122. Permission to access the cemetery can be obtained from the front office at the Ranch. You never know who you will run into in this world. The guy who took us out there was an old friend I had not seen in about 35 years.
I was in the company of my friend Jimmy Jones and his daughter Jennifer from Tennessee when we went out there in October of 2003. We took a lot of pictures and between the three of us we came up with the pictures that you will see on this site.
The area is accessible by car however a truck would be better. There is a navigatable road all the way back into the cemetery. The road goes through the property of the Ranch.
There had been some recent work in the cemetery as the debris appeared to be rather new. I dont know if there is a systematic effort to keep the area clean but on this day we were able to amble around easily.
Please understand that some of these pictures are not top quality. We did not have a lot to work with. All of the pictures you see on this site are downsized for easy loading.
