A trip to the Alderman cemetery is like a step back in time. Up until 2001 the cemetery was well hidden within the woods of Echols County, Georgia. Sometime that year the timber company came in and cleared most of the land around the cemetery leaving it intact as well as could be expected. I have been there twice and both times the cemetery has been overgrown and unkept. I have not been there since April of 2001. It was my understanding at one time that an attempt was underway to put a fence around the cemetery. I do not know if that ever happened or not.
