| THE BRENNAN FAMILY HISTORY WEBSITE |
DEDICATION
- This web site is dedicated to my dear mother
Elizabeth (Lily) Kelly
(nee BRENNAN).
R.I.P.
(LILY was born on the 26th October 1922 in Ballickmoyler, Co. Laois - died on the 30th June 1996 in Portlaoise Hospital, Co. Laois).
- Elizabeth KELLY (nee BRENNAN) (above) was born in Cooper Hill, nr Ballickmoyler, Co. Laois. IRL. on the Sunday 26th October 1922. She was the youngest daughter of Thomas BRENNAN (1876-1957) and Mary Anne MORAN (1874-1960).
- Her God parents were her Uncle Mark Brennan and a friend of the family, Alice Wall.
- In January 1938at the age of 15 years she attended night classes at the Arles Technical School where she learned her skills in Domestic Science until December 1942 when she received a reference from the school tutor. She loved to sing, dance and play the Accordion.
- In 1929 at the age of 7 she contracted TB and was unable to attend school for a whole year due to the severity of the illness.
In 1944 she embarked on her journey to London where she eventually became a Domestic Servant running the household of a very successful City Banker by the name of Mr Bruce Hindley.
Before her untimely death in June of 1996 at Portlaoise Hospital, Co. Laois, she provided me with enormous amounts of information about our family, without which none of this work would have been possible.
I would also like to thank the rest of my family who are far too many to mention just now. They put up with me sending them endless questionnaire's and asking them endless questions about the family and they provided me with lots of help and information.
