Cora Christine Hegge

Cora Christine Hegge Meade

This illustrious lady is my beloved Grandmother. Her courage is insurmountable. Following her mother Grace Alto Jordan Hegge's sudden death, she was sent to the Owatonna State School in Owatonna, Minnesota. Along with her 9 other siblings. From the age of 13, until she was 16. From there she was sent to Cannon Fals, Minnesota. Mr.s Thompkins was her Foster mother. Cora later married Clifford J. Meade. They resided in San Fransisco, CA for many years. Returning to Minnesota around 1944. She loved Wisconsin. Particularly Burnett County. She admired it’s fantastic countryside and it's people. She taught piano as well. Cora spent hours writing music. The music and the words came to her like magic. So she would laboriously set out to get the notes on paper; composing the words until the finished work was completed. A song that has been handed down from generation to generation is one she wrote: "Down in the St.Croix Valley"

To hear the music for this song contact. [Me]
