Dresses

Our mom is an amazing woman. She worked full-time almost her entire married life, this while raising 6 daughters. And nearly every Christmas and Easter she made dresses for all us girls. We realized recently we don't have pictures of all these dresses, but what pictures we do have, I have pulled together here as a pictorial history of all the love and work that went into those dresses. Thanks Mom ! !

1952, Easter in Salt Lake CIty, behind Grandma Smith's house at 82 West 1st North (now 2nd North).
Easter 1954. These were actually made by our Grandma Hatch, and sent to Salt Lake City for Easter.
1955, Easter. The yellow dress Nancy has on was not made, but given to us by a friend.
These may not have been Easter dresses, but look-alike dresses mom made for us.
1956, Easter. Taken at our newly-built house at 4717 North 48th Drive, Phoenix. Mom made the purple dress on the left. Mine on the right was a hand-me-down. Not sure about the others!
Easter 1957, Back yard at Pickwick Gables apartments on West Van Buren Avenue, just east of where I-17 is now. These were pink dotted-swiss nylon.
Another picture of the 1957 Easter dresses in the front yard of Grandpa and Grandma Hatch's house in Prescott.
Easter 1958, Encanto Park, Phoenix. The blue one was new, and probably the one on the right. The others might not have been new that Easter.
Best I can do for Easter 1959, grouped from individual pictures of each of us. Obviously taken at Church on Easter morning in Glendale. We're not sure about these dresses, as it's hard to really see which ones they were!
Christmas 1959. All that rick-rack and Mom doesn't remember sewing these dresses! This picture taken in the living room of the house on 48th Drive.
Easter 1961 dresses. This is our house at 3820 N. 56th Drive, Phoenix, just north of the canal just north of Maryvale High School.
Another picture of the checked dresses, taken at Grandpa and Grandma Hatch's house in Flagstaff.
PIcture taken in Spring 1967. These were the Christmas 1966 outfits - including Dad's vest ! I actually helped with the sewing of these suits. Old enough to know Santa had helpers. Taken at our then "new" house at 112 W. Washington, Murray, Utah.
Christmas 1968. The blouses were "store-bought" but mom made all the jumpers.
