LOSBAUGH, Frederick
Frederick Losbaugh is shown in a list of Baltimore County, Maryland men who signed an Oath of Allegiance and Fidelity to the State of Maryland. On Feb. 5, 1777, the General Assembly of Maryland, enacted a law which made it necessary to sign an Oath of Allegiance and Fidelity to the State of Maryland and the Cause of Freedom. These oaths were to be taken before a magistrate of the Court. They included every five male, eighteen years and over, every civil officer, senator, delegate to Congress or Assembly, members of coucil, electors of the Senate, attorneys at law, every voter for delegates, sheriffs, electors of the Senate, and all persons holding any office of trust or profit in the State. The listing is of 9,000 men who signed the Oath of Allegiance to Maryland during the Revolution. Vol. 11, page 14, Baltimore County, Maryland Jacob Lorentz Frederick Losbaugh (The date of signing of individuals is not given in this record; perhaps this and other information is in an original record. As the Lorentz and Loshbaugh families are said to be related and the men served side-by-side in the American Revolution the above record is of interest. Also of interest is the fact that the given name Frederick and vanations thereof such as Fred, Francis and Frank, appear in several generations and in different branches of the Loshbaugh families out of Michigan).
