LOSHBAUGH, JOSEPH PERRY

Reference: 1989 correspondence from Mildred Y. Aday.

"For many years it was thought that the oldest child was a Joseph Perry Loshbough, age 32 in 1860 indicating year of birth to be about 1828, in Pennsylvania. He married a Mary Jane Wood or Woods on 12 Sept. 1848 in Michigan --- however, later research indicated his year of birth to be 1822, making him probably a borther or nephew of Henry. So far it has not been possible to ascertain Joseph's death date; he left Nebraska "to live in southern Kansas with a daughter and her husband after the death of his wife" --- recently it has been learned from the 1900 Census records of Oklahoma that Joseph was living at that' time with his son-in-law and daughter Ida Grissom in Grant county in Northern Oklahoma. When Joseph died his body was not returned to Nebraska for burial. It is thought his death was in 1906 as land records in Nebraska indicated a change of ownership at that time. When the estate of Anna (Decker) Loshbough was settled in 1891, all living children of Henry and Anna were listed, but no mention of Joseph, which also indicates that Joseph is not the son of Henry and Anna, as all the brothers and sisters of their family seem to have been in communication over the years."
