Jason J. Brinson and Lucinda RushtonJason J. Brinson was born in Apr 1845 in Screven County, Georgia. Screven County, GA Marriage book C, page 221 shows Jason J. Brinson married Lucinda Rushton January 28, 1869. Jason J. Brinson is the son of Jason Brinson, Sr. and Jemima Unknown. He is the grandson of Adam Brinson and Elizabeth Murphree. Lucinda Rushton is the daughter of William Rushton and Lucretia Rowe. She was born in Edgefield District (Saluda County), SC about 1848. The records of the Mormon Church have on file the record of Jason's birth as about 1844 and refers to him as Jason Brinson, Jr. Film #1239556, page 437, ref 9174. The 1910 census of Emanuel County, Georgia lists his date of birth as April 1845. The Mormon records also show the marriage of Jason Brinson and Lucinda (Rushington) Rushton, 23 Jan 1869 in Screven County. Batch number A456582. According to Rufus Garner a son-in-law, Jason told him that he was a mailman who delivered mail to the troops in the field in the War Between the States. He was almost shot several times but rode low in the saddle as bullets whizzed over his head. I have not found the war records, but am still searching. The children were born in either Screven or Emanuel County, Georgia. Based on other information, Jason and Lucinda lived in Screven County. Jason is found in Emanuel County in 1900 as a widower. The 1890 census records were tragically destroyed in a fire. They could have told us a great deal of information. The children of Jason Brinson and Lucinda Rushton are:
The 1910 census of Emanuel County, Georgia lists the household of Jason Brinson:
On the 1920 Emanuel County census, Jason is living with his daughter, Eliza Brinson Howard and her family. He is listed as Jason J. Brinson, 76 years old, widower, occupation is cabinet maker. Jason's Great-Grandaughter, Mary Louise Howard, told me that she remembered Jason made her a rocking chair when she was about 2 or 3 years old. He would not give it to her until she gave him a kiss. She would not kiss him because he had a bushy beard and mustache. She finally worked up the courage to kiss him and got her rocking chair. She kept the chair for many years and does not remember what happened to it. He could read and write. Evidently Jason died before 1925 as Eliza and her family moved to Augusta during that year.

3. Gracie Brinson was born May 16, 1873 in Emanuel or Screven County , GA, and died September 28, 1954 in University Hospital, Augusta, GA. She married John Edgar Lariscey July 30, 1893 in Emanuel County, GA. He was born January 1870 in Georgia. The name of Lariscey is spelled various ways on the different records. Notes for Gracie Brinson: This was found in a search of Brinson on the Emanuel County web site. LARICY, J. E.
Marriage Wife: Gracy E. BRINSEN (Brinson) I was told by a g-grandchild of hers that John Lariscey called her "Dink." Gracy and John are listed on the Emanuel County 1900 census as follows: Laricy, John -
Head of Household, w m DOB Jan 1870, age 29 married occupation;
farmer 1910 Census, Emanuel County lists the family as follows: Larisey, John,

6. Mary Anne (Annie) Brinson was born May 1884 in Emanuel or Screven County, Ga. She married Lawrence Joyner. Notes for Mary Anne (Annie) Brinson: Annie Brinson Joyner is found on the Emanuel County 1900 census as being born May 1882, age 18. 1900 Census, Emanuel County, GA Joiner, Lawrence,
w, m, born Nov 1873, age 26, married 1 year. Mary Anne Brinson Joyner is found on the Emanuel County of 1910 listed as 26 years of age. Based on this she would have been born in 1884. However, the 1900 Emanuel County census lists her as being born in May 1882. If the 1900 census is correct, she would be 28 years old. Lawrence is listed on the 1900 census as being 26 and born Nov 1873. If this is correct, he would be 36 in 1910 and not 46. Also, the 1900 census shows them as being married 1 year. The 1910 census shows 13 years when it should be 11 years. Which is correct? The dates are confusing. This is why census information should not be taken as absolute. Could the census taker have gotten the birthdays mixed up? It would make sense that Annie would have been born in 1884 except that she would have been about 14 or 15 years old when she married. That was not unusual in those days. Until more proof is found, I will list her birthday as May, 1884. More research is needed. 1910 Census, Emanuel County, GA lists the Joyner family as follows: Joyner, Lawrence D.,
male 46 years of age (he was actually 36), married 13 years.
Occupation Farmer. Children of Mary Brinson and Lawrence Joyner are:
7. Junie Brinson, born June 1886 in Emanuel or Screven County, Ga. Notes for Junie Brinson: Junie shows on the 1900 Emanuel County census as being in the household of her father Jason Brinson. She is shown as being born Jun 1886, 13 years of age. Evidently since she was born in June, they named her June. We have not further information about Junie. I do remember my Mother talking about "Aunt Junie."
