Mildred and Lena Mae came by here last week and they said Minnie was already walking without a walker and usually it takes a long time to get over that. Mrs. Charles (Margaret Whatley) Lee wrote 25 Sep 1983: Minnie has been having a time with her leg. A bee stung her last year and it's been giving her a lot of trouble ever since.... She was in the hospital with it sometime back and it got some better. Minnie died 6 Jul 1996. The following funeral notice is from the Anniston Star circa 8 or 9 Jul 1996 which was preserved by Mrs. Charles (Margaret Whatley) Lee: Reeves LINEVILLE - Services for Minnie L. Reeves, 95, of Lineville were today at Oak Grove Methodist Church with Rev. John Copeland and Buster Harold Parker officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. Mrs. Reeves died Saturday at Clay County hospital. Survivors include a niece, Linda Reeves of Lineville; and a great- niece and great-nephew. Pallbearers were Scott Miller, Tim Miller, Randall Upchurch, Jason Upchurch, Rodney McCain and Elbert Milstead. A Clay County native, Mrs. Reeves was a homemaker and a member of Goodhope/Lineville Baptist Church. |

He was having him a new house built, lot of his building material was being stolen at night, door, window, etc. So, one night, he carried his gun and decided to hide there, so he got out of his pickup and he stumbled and the gun went off.... He managed to get in the truck & drive home.... He was carried to B'ham hospital and stayed there a month or 6 or 8 weeks. In a 29 Mar 1981 letter Margaret Lee wrote: I heard someone say Elmer Reeves went back to work on the railroad. I was glad. I was afraid he would never be able to work anymore. Someone tried to break into his new home after he moved into it. I don't think they got anything, he got a gun and scared them away. The following obituary is from an unknown source: Reeves LINEVILLE--Services for Elmer L. Reeves Sr., 39, of Lineville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. A.A. Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. The family will receive friends today at the funeral home where the body will be until services. Mr. Reeves died Monday [19 Sep 1983 hand written] at his residence. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Donna L. Reeves of Lineville; a son, Elmer L. "Butch" Reeves of Cross Plains, Texas; and his mother, Mrs. Vennie F. Reeves of Lineville.
