      Mrs. Travis (Jacqueline Lorenz) McClinton noted on the Shadrack Guthrie descendant list that Lynn died "of typhoid fever while a student of the University of Texas." The death was also recorded in the Family Bible: Lynn Carleton Guthrie - Died May 13 - 1910
      Mrs. McClinton also preserved Lynn Carleton's obituary from p. 24 of the Waco Daily Times Herald for Sunday 15 May 1910: WILL BE BURIED TODAY. The remains of Lynn C. Guthrie, age 22 years, who died Friday night in Austin, arrived here on the north bound Katy yesterday afternoon and was taken to the home of the family in East Waco, four miles from the city proper on the Springfield Road. Rev. Father E. A. Kelly will conduct the funeral services at the Church of the Assumption this afternoon, interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
