Barny Adam, 72, is listed as a laborer at the farm of John Adam. This Barney is most likely John’s brother, at least I believe this makes sense and the ages match.
On the 1860 census for same area, page 48 d652 f661 John is listed as a farmer 71, with Elizabeth 68 (but this should be 62), Joan (Joann from 1850) 36, Richard 20 (Is this Bernhard, possibly Richard Bernhard?), William 16.
On the 1870 census at same location page 82 d312 f324 John is missing having died in 1868. Listed is Elizabeth 72, Joanna 47, and William 27 (a dealer in lime).
One source7 reads that John was “the son of Johonn & Elizabeth Adam”. This adds more confirmation to the hand written family tree of Emily Adams Tait prepared ca 1937. Another source reads that John was the son of John & Elizabeth8 but John is a common name for Johannes, so this is also in agreement. The actual tombstone reads John, son of John & Elizabeth.
