ANNA EVA MEIXEL, 26 Sep 1748.

Ship’s record of the William & Sarah on which he immigarted indicates he was the son of Nicholas Adam and was two and a half years old, which would give him a birth year of ca 1724.

Interred: 07 Apr 1790 (Source: Church Records: Selected Areas of Pennsylvania, 1600s-1800s, "CD-ROM," Berks County, Volume 1, Schwartzwald Reformed Church, April 7, 1790 - Jonas Adam, b. --, 1722.)

Born on 29 Sep 1729 in Lancaster Co., PA.3 Johannes Schweickhardt died in Bern Twp., Berks Co., PA, on 25 Oct 1792; he was 63.4 Buried in Bernhard Adam Cemetery, West Reading, Berks Co., PA. At the age of <1, Johannes Schweickhardt was baptized in Lancaster Co., PA, on 8 May 1730.
Listed in “Pennsylvania Births, Lancaster County, 1723-1777”

There is a record of Nicolaus Adam baptizing a child John at the Muddy Creek Lutheran Church in Cocalico Twp., Lancaster Co., PA on 8 May 1730; these records show a birth date of 29 Sep 1729.
In the records of the Bernhard Adam Cemetery in Reading there is a Johonnes Adams listed who was reported born 22 Oct 1730 - died 25 Oct 1792  62y. I have not been able to determine who this person is, exactely, but I have a copy of a will by John Adam of Bern (twp), will written Oct 22, 1792 proven Nov 12, 1792, All estate to wife Anna Maria during widowhood. After her decease real estate to be sold. “To my niece Elizabeth Fernsler, dau. of my Brother Jonas Adam (Jonas is crossed out and written above in the same handwriting is Jon Jacob) the son of Jonas Adam, 5 pounds of gold money.” The remainder to the children of my brother Barney Adam of Cumru. Exrs: wife Anna Maria and brother Barney Adam Wits: Frederick Kaucher and Lorentz Haas.

This may be the correct Johonnes since he does in fact have a brother Jonas and a brother Bernhard “Barney.” Perhaps the year of birth in the cemetery record is incorrect. Anyway, that is as much as I can determine at this time. The will is somewhat confusing, because it says his brother Jon Jacob, son of Jonas. If his brother is the son of Jonas, then the present Johannes should be the son of Jonas as well. I am not certain on this material and more work is needed. I will be greatful for any help from other researchers.

Complete transcript of the will follows. Wording and puntuation is as in the original as best as I can make it out from a xerox copy:

Maria Eva SCHMIDT in marriage record, Anna Maria in all other records. Could be two different women? It also appears there are two different John Adams at his time in Lancaster Co. The one that married Maria Eva Schmidt eventually moved to and died in North Carolina fide Donald King pers. comm. Rev. John Casper Stovers marriage records show:
1751 04 19 Adam, John - Schmidt, Maria Eva (Moden Crk) Lancaster Co. This may be an entirely different John Adam. More clarification is needed.

The following note from Suzy Bettac provides more questions: “At this time I have not been able to prove that Julianna and John are buried in Fahmey's Meeting house cemetery.  There are no records of any Fasnacht headstones there. Further, I have had a running debate with another researcher over whether or not he has located the correct Johannes Fasnacht in the German records.  He did indeed locate a Johannes, son of Samuel and Maria Unrath.  However, I have also located four OTHER Johannes Fasnachts in other towns.  The key to finding the right Johannes is the contct he had with Conrad and Adam Fasnacht who arrived in the U.S. a year before 1752] Johannes [ and who were baptismal sponsors for one another in PA]  and the marriage of Johannes to Kunigunde Heinser in Germany.  We still do not have those key points and thus it is highly probable that the Johannes you have posted is an error.  Perhaps you could post a note about this question?”5
