Ninth Generation (Continued)
Elam J. ADAMS.
Born on 14 Sep 1877 in Berks Co., PA. Elam J. died in Berks Co., PA, on 27 Jan 1880; he was 2. Buried in Bernhard Adam Cemetery, West Reading, Berks Co., PA.
Elam was the first son of Irvin Adam and it is likely that he named the child after his own brother who died at the age of 6. This generation was the first to use “Adams” regularly. During an October 2001 interview with my aunt, Emily Adams Tait (then 90 years of age) I commented on the fact that both of the Elams had died as small children. She commented that she and my mother, Eleanor Adams Lasley, used to talk about that while they were girls and each decided never to name a child Elam since they thought it was really bad luck.

Worked in Rochester, NY, Pottstown & Reading, PA and Detroit, MI (1930s). He had some sort of involvement with the development of the automobile speedometer, at least Jim & I were always told this as small children.

Terrine Elsie Wagner was apparently her true name, but according to her daughter, Emily Adams Tait (12 Oct 2001 interview) she disliked the name Terrine as a first name and so she always used the name Elsie Terrine Wagner instead.
