Will of John Adam Klopp:
Written March 19,1844

In the name of God Amen. I, John Adam Klopp, Of Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, and the State of Pennsylvania. Being Sickly and weak in body, but in sound mind, memory, and understanding , (Praised be, God for it) and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time there of, and to the end I may be better prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please, God, to call me hence. Do there for make and declare this my last will and testament, in manor following this is to say. First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of almighty God, my creator, hoping for free pardon and remission of all my sins and to in joy everlasting happiness in the, Heavenly Kingdom, through Jesus Christ my savior; My body I will commit to the earth at the discretion of my executers, to sell my personal or household goods as soon after my decease as conveniently can be by public venue and collect the money which I may have outstanding and apply the proceeds of such sale and the monies thus collected towards the payment of my just debts, funeral expenses, ect., it is further my will and order and direct my Here in after named executers to make a sale of all my real estate by public venue. At such time land in such portions as in their opinion will command the best price within two years after my decease. And I give them full power and authority to execute title deeds to the purchase of my said real estate. And after paying all my just debts, funeral expenses, and the expenses attending the settlement of my estate, it is my will that the balance remaining in the hands of my executors, shall be equally divided among my nine children. Share and share alike, that is Unto my son Samuel, one share, Unto my son Benneville, one share, Unto my son Jonathan, one share, Unto my son Elias, one share, Unto my son Adam C. one share, Unto my son, Benjamin, one share, Unto my son, John , one share, Unto my daughter, Eliza one share, she being intermarried with, Simon Disler. And to my daughter, Sarah ,one share, she being intermarried with, Jacob Conrad.

Where as my son, John, is yet not in his maturity, I do hereby appoint my heir in after named executors or the survivors of them, to be the guardians of the person and estate of my said son, John, until he arrives to the age of, twenty - one years, and where as my daughter, Eliza, has four children by her former husband, John Shetz, deceased. It is therefore my will and I order and direct that the share or portion coming to her, shall not be paid to her nor her husband. But shall remain in the hands of my here in after named executors, in trust for my said daughter and her husband. The interest to be paid annually paid to them during their natural lives . And in the case of either of them dies the survivor of them shall be entitled to the said annual interest during his or her natural lives.

And after the death of my said daughter, Eliza, and her husband Simon Disler, The principal shall be equally divided amongst all children born of her body. Share and share alike, and in case of any of her said children shall die, leaving issue, such issue to be in titled to his or her parents share. It is further my will that in case my said daughter, Eliza and her husband, should prefer to have some real estate purchased with the share coming to her, instead of having said share put at interest, I order and direct my said executors with the approbation and consent of my said daughter and her husband, to purchase one and hold the same in trust for them as a for said. And my said daughter and her husband to enjoy the produce or income of the same during their joint lives. Keeping the same in repair and paying the taxes, that may be levied upon the same, during their occupancy. And after their death, the same shall be sold and divided as here in before directed.

And in case that my here in after named executors shall abuse or miss - manage this said trust or remove out of the neighborhood, or any other act or misdemeanor as trustees, my said daughter and husband shall make application to the Orphan court, or any other court, and compel surrender of the said trust, and all monies due unto such person, as the said court may appoint for the purpose.

And lastly, I nominate, constitute, and appoint my three son's Samuel Klopp, Jonathan Klopp and Elias Klopp to be the executors, of this my last will and testament, revoking all other wills, legacies, and bequest by me here to for made, and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal, this Nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and forty four.

On 9 Nov 1802 when Johannes “John” Adam was 23, he married Sarah Salome KEISER. Born on 7 Jul 1788. Sarah Salome died on 19 Apr 1843; she was 54.1
