An undated note in the Exum files belonging to my family from Milton J. Brooks, 2014 Dartmouth Ave., Bessemer, AL 35020 states: “Cleo Exum killed in courtyard in West Point, MS.”

Clarence Exum (listed in the docket as Titus Clarence Exum) was divorced in 1919 from his wife/1st cousin Claude Jordan Exum. The bill for divorce was filed on August 22, 1919 and the decree for divorce was filed November 11, 1919.

WEST POINT TIMES-LEADER, August 1, 1930
"Mrs. Claude Exum of Charleston [MS] who has been visiting friends and relatives in West Point for the past several days was taken suddenly ill on Thursday afternoon about 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Muldrow Weeks. She was rushed to the Ivy hospital and died at the hospital soon afterwards. "Mrs. Exum was the head nurse at the hospital at Charleston, Miss. She had been in ill health for some time. Before her marriage she was Miss Claude Jordan, only daughter of Wm. Jordan. Surviving her are two sons: Clarence Exum, of New York, and Jordan Exum of Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Exum was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church."
