John George Summ
John George Summ, a well-known farmer of the Town of Polar, passed
away at his home March 13, shortly after 2 o'clock in the morning. He was
taken slightly ill with a cold a short time before and this developed into
pneumonia, which with several other troubles resulted in his death early this
morning. Mr. Summ had not been enjoying good health for several years.
The deceased was born in Baden, Germany, on January 24, 1853. It was
there he spent his boyhood and young manhood, coming to this county when
he was 29 years of age. He was one of the first settlers of Antigo.
On the 26th of October, 1882, he was married to Marie Blum. Four children
were born to them, all of whom, with his widow, are left to mourn his loss.
They are Mrs. Marie Martin, Jr., of Polar, Carl Summ of Polar, and Herman
and Marcus, who are living at home. He had nine grandchildren who also live
at Polar.
Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran church at Evergreen hill, Polar,
on Thursday, March 15, at 3 o'clock. Services will also be held at the home at
2 o'clock.
