      1. Gustav Carl Martin (Márten)  was born on 23 Aug 1846 in Pommern, Germany. He died on 12 Mar 1934 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. He was buried on 15 Mar 1934 in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.
 

Gustav Carl with wife, Auguste, and children, Otto, Carl and Gustav, emigrated Pommern,

Germany from the port of Bremen and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on the ship named

Hohenzollern on April 18, 1883.  Gustav Carl and family immediately went to Beaver Dam,

Dodge County, Wisconsin.  He then bought land in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin in 1891

and two years later in 1893 settled there with his children and wife.

OBITUARY:

March 13, 1934; Antigo Daily Journal

The funeral of Gust Martin, pioneer town of Polar resident and Franco-German war veteran,

who died yesterday, will be held Thursday afternoon.  Short services will be held at the house

at 1:30 and at two o'clock at the Evergreen Lutheran Church.  The Rev. Mr. Zuberbler will

officiate.
 

WILL OF GUSTAV CARL MARTIN:_Written on October 7, 1933

     KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I Gustav Martin of the Town of Polar, Langlade

County, Wisconsin, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by

me made.

     1.  I give, devise and bequeath to my son William Martin a note and mortgage executed by

Walter Stuempges and Sylvia Stuempges his wife in the amount of $700.00 dated January 25,

1932, said note being secured by a real estate mortgate of even date on the following

described premises:   "Commencing at the Center Stake of Section Fifteen in Township Thirty

One North, of Range Twelve East, thence east twenty three feet, thence south nine rods and

three feet,- thence east thirty four and one half (34 1/2) rods, thence north nine rods and three

feet, thence west thirty four and one half (34 1/2) rods, to place of beginning, being a part of

the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (NW 1/4 SE 1/4) of Section Fifteen (15) IN

Township and Range Aforesaid"   which was recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of

Langlade County, Wisconsin, on the 27th day of January, A. D. 1932 at 8:30 o'clock A. M. and

recorded in Volume 181 of mortgages on page 129 as document number 121149.

     2.  I hereby nominate and appoint my son William Martin the executor of this my last will

and request that he be not required to give a surety or sureties upon his official bond or that he

be required to give no bond.

     3.  I make no provisions in this my last will and testament for my son Otto Martin and

Gustav Martin Jr. for the reason that they have been provided for during my life time.

     4.  I have also made no provisions in this my last will for my debts and funeral expenses as

the same are to be paid by my son Otto Martin under a bond of support heretofore executed by

said Otto Martin.

     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of October, A. D.

1933.

     Notice is hereby given that at a term of said court to be held on Tuesday, the 5th day of

June, 1934, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon of said day, at the Court House in the City of Antigo,

in said County, there will be heard and considered:

     The application of Wim. Martn for the probate of the Will of Gustav Martin, Sr., also written

Gustav Marten, deceased, and for the appoinment of an executor or administrator with the will

___ ___ of the estate of said Gustav Martin, Sr., also written Gustav Marten, Sr., deceased,

late of the Town of Polar in said County;

     Notice is further give that all claims against the said Gustav Martin, Sr., also written Gustav

Marten, deceased, late of the Town of Polar, in Langlade County, Wisconsin, must be

presented to said County Court at the Court House, in said County, on or before the 11th day

of September, 1934, or be barred; at that all such claims and demands will be examined and

adjusted at a term of said Court to be held at the Court House in the City of Antigo, in said

County, on Tuesday, the 18th day of September, 1934, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon of said

day.

Gustav married Auguste L. F. Lübke  about 1877 in Pommern,Germany. Auguste was born on 29 Nov 1853 in Pommern, Germany. She died on 19 Oct 1938 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. She was buried on 23 Oct 1938 in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.

 They had the following children:

               2 M        i.  Otto Wilhelm H. Martin  was born on 14 Mar 1877 in Groß Schönfeld, Kreis Greifenhagen, Pommern, Germany now Zarczyn, Poland. He died on 7 Jul 1955 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. He was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.

Otto married Wilhelmina C. A. Utnehmer  daughter of Charles J. F. Utnehmer and Sophie M. Dauk on 22 Nov 1905 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. Wilhelmina was born on 21 Oct 1883 in Clintonville, Wisconsin. She died on 24 Feb 1952 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. She was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.

               3 M        ii.  Carl Martin  was born about 1880 in Groß Schönfeld, Kreis Greifenhagen, Pommern, Germany now Zarczyn, Poland. He died in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.  

Died in infancy. 

               4 M       iii.  Gustav Herman Wilhelm "Gust" Martin  was born on 22 Jun 1882 in Groß Schönfeld, Kreis Greifenhagen, Pommern, Germany now Zarczyn, Poland. He died on 17 May 1968 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. He was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. 

Gustav died of Cancer of the Prostate with Metastases.

Gustav married Maria Summ  daughter of Johann Georg Summ and Maria Blum on 23 Jul 1907 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. Maria was born on 23 Jul 1883 in Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin. She died on 6 Apr 1972 in Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin. She was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.

               5 M       iv.  William Frederick "Bill" Martin  was born on 1 Aug 1883 in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin. He died on 25 Feb 1970 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. He was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.

William married (1) Bertha Tomack  daughter of Johann August Tomack and Marie Dorothea Loewe on 17 Oct 1912 in Langlade County, Wisconsin. The marriage ended in divorce. Bertha was born about 1891 in Wisconsin. She died in Wisconsin.

William married (2) Bessie Edith Drew  daughter of David Nathaniel Drew and Missouri Henrietta Pickle on 16 Nov 1951 in Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin. Bessie was born on 20 Mar 1894 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. She died on 6 Dec 1963 in Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin. She was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.

               6 F        v.  Alvina Emelia Augusta Martin  was born on 11 Feb 1885 in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin. She died on 11 Apr 1909 in Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. She was buried on 14 Apr 1909 in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin. 

OBITUARY:

April 12, 1909

MRS. HENRY KOEBKE DIED YESTERDAY FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

    Mrs. Henry Koebke of Polar died at one o'clock Sunday afternoon at the

Antigo Hospital after a brief illness, death being due to gangreen of the lungs. 

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational

Lutheran church in Polar, the Rev. Gustav Bauman, pastor of the church,

officiating.  Interment will take place in the Polar cemetery.

    Mrs. Alvina Martin Koebke was born in Beaver Dam and was 24 years of

age at the time of her death.  She came to Langlade County with her parents

16 years ago and has resided in Polar ever since.  Besides the husband, she

is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Martin, Sr., and the following

brothers, all of whom reside in Polar: Otto, Will and Gustav Martin, Jr. 

Alvina married Henry Fred Kipke  son of Kipke and Matilda M. on 6 Feb 1907 in Langlade County,Wisconsin. Henry was born on 26 May 1886 in Wisconsin. He died on 25 Jun 1962 in Leoapolis, Wisconsin. He was buried on 28 Jun 1962 in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Polar, Langlade County, Wisconsin.

               7 F        vi.  Anna Martin  was born in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin. She died in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.  

Died in infancy.

               8         vii.  Infant Martin  was born in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Infant died in Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin.  

I know that Gustav Carl and Auguste had seven (7) children, but I do not know

the name of this child, it is very possible it is named Fredeh after his

grandfather.
