Memorial Service -- Larry Klopstein

Description:    We celebrate the life of Larry Klopstein (Sanctuary and

Fireside Room)  Larry C. Klopstein was born in Polar, Wisconsin, July 21,

1939 and passed away gracefully in Santa Barbara, California on September

17, 2007, in the presence of his family and long time friend Pastor Jim. He

graduated from Antigo High School in 1957, and immediately joined the Navy,

where he served aboard the USS Midway for three years. In 1959, he married

his high school sweetheart Donna G. Hecker and resided in Racine, WI. After

discharging from the Navy he began to work for AC Spark plug. Larry moved

his family from Wisconsin to California in 1967 and worked at North American,

in Downey. In 1973, he received his Bachelors degree in business from Long

Beach State University. He continued his career with General Motors, Delco

Electronics, which landed him and his family in Santa Barbara. At the age of

50, he received his Masters degree in business. Larry retired from General

Motors in 1992, and soon after started working at Good Shepherd Lutheran

Church.  To all who knew him, Larry was a kind caring man with a strong work

ethic who was dedicated to his family, friends and the church. He played an

active role with the Boy Scouts and will always be a role model to those who

knew him. He will always be remembered for his laughter, keen sense of

humor, easy going nature and willingness to help others. He will also be

remembered for his bravery, courage, positive attitude and fight, while facing

health issues.  Larry had a strong passion for life, laughter and golf, a sport he

played religiously with his friends. He enjoyed spending time with his four

grand kids, Kayla, Trey, Alana and Derek. Throughout his life Larry has made

many friends most of those friends are also known as family.   Larry is

survived by his loving wife Donna and three children, Mark, Dana and Kurt,

and daughter in laws Christine and Rechel. His sisters Donna and Pat and his

brother Dennus, as well as his many sister and brother in laws, nieces and

nephews.   The Klopstein family would like to extend a special thanks to

 

Pastor Jim, Dr. Newman and his amazing staff, Roseanna Petronella and all

the Doctors that played a vital role with Larry's care.   A celebration of Larry's

life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 380 N. Fairview, Saturday,

September 29, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. With a luncheon to follow. Please dress

casually (no tie, Pastor Jim). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the

Diabetes or Cancer foundations, or to the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund. 

 

Larry married Donna G. Hecker  daughter of Merlin O. Hecker and Doris Hare in 1959.
