Was in her 91st year Mrs. Mary E. Oglesby Passes Away at the Home of Her Son Dr. J W Oglesby, at Westport
Mrs. Mary E. Oglesby, widow of the late Ashbury Oglesby, died at the home of her son, Dr J W Oglesby, at Westport, last Saturday morning at three o’clock. She had been an invalid for years, the result of paralysis, and had been at the Morton Home, in Louisville, for some time. Dr Oglesby brought her to his home several months ago. Mrs. Oglesby was one of this county’s best known women. She was past ninety years of age. Two sons survive her Dr. Oglesby, of Westport, and Mr. Richard Oglesby, of Chicago: and one daughter, Mrs Erwin, of Kansas. She was a sister of the late Hon. P R Taylor, member of the Legislature from this district and has a number of nieces and nephews in this section, among them Misses Susie and Carrie Taylor, of this city: Mrs. Harry Hudson, of Pee Wee Valley: Dr. P R Taylor, of Louisville, and Mr. Oscar Taylor, of Harrods Creek. Mrs. Oglesby was a niece of President Zachary Taylor and was related to Dolly Madison, wife of President James Madison, and Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy.
Mrs. Oglesby was born near Worthington and was a daughter of the late William Moore Taylor, one of the early settlers. She was twice married. Her first husband was Chas. Dorsey, a wealthy farmer and her second husband, Benjamin A Oglesby, was a steamboat operator and owner. She was for years active in the affairs of the Methodist Episcopial church and charity work.
A short funeral service was conducted at Dr. Oglesby’s home at Westport at 9:00 a.m. Sunday by Rev. George Froh, and the remains were taken to Louisville for burial in the family lot at Cave Hill cemetery. She was buried in clothing prepared for that purpose by her own hand several years ago. WILLIAM OGLESBY DIES AT CENTERFIELD RESIDENCE
William Oglesby, 84, retired livestock dealer, died Sunday afternoon at his residence at Centerfield of the infirmities of age. He was a native of the county the son of William C and Mary Virginia Watson Oglesby, and spent his entire life in the Centerfield community.
He was an active member of Mt. Tabor Methodist Church and for many years was superintendent of Mt. Tabor Cemetery. He never married.
He is survived by two sisters, Misses Sallie and Mattie Oglesby, both of Centerfield, several nieces and nephews.
The Body was prepared for burial at the M A Stoess & Sons Funeral Home and funeral services were conducted at Mt. Tabor Church by the Rev. M A Schooler Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. Internment was in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Acting as casket bearers were Virgil Jones, Kenneth Brown, W H Payton, Alonzo Brown, Charles Brown and James Brown. Acting as Honorary Casket bearers were J B Stackhouse, H E Tatem, J P Schindler, E B Brown, C M Brown and R C Montfort.
ANNIE GERTRUDE (OGLESBY) LONG
Mrs. Annie Gertrude Long died Thursday morning, December 20th, in her 70th year, after an illness of several months. She was the widow of the late Ed Long of Worth.
Surviving are three sons, Earl Long of Lexington, Leonard Long of Louisville and Woodson Long of Worth; two sisters, Misses Mattie and Sallie Oglesby; one brother, William Oglesby, all of Worth. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from Mr. Tabor Methodist Church December 21 at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Clem Murdock of Louisville. Internment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Acting as casket bearers were Messrs Eugene Brown, William Radler, Virgil Jones, Joseph Oglesby, Owen Oglesby and James Brown.

DR. J.W. OGLESBY DIES AT HOTEL
Dr. Joseph W. Oglesby, well known practitioner of LaGrange, died Thursday night at the Park Hotel after a severe heart attack. He was taken ill Wednesday night after eating supper and never rallied. He was about eighty years old.
Dr. Oglesby was the son of Captain Joseph Oglesby, a famous river captain when the waterways were the only mode of comfortable travel. His mother was Miss Bettie Taylor, who gave the ground where Shiloh Church now stands.
He studied medicine in Louisville and setting in Westport when graduated in that profession, where he remained until a few years ago when he came to LaGrange. Dr. Oglesby possessed a keen wit, was a good conversationalist, and his jovial ways made him a welcome adjunct to a group.
He married Miss Johnnie Kerlin, daughter of George Kerlin of Skylight, who died in 1902. Some years later he married Miss Mattie Belle Yager. No children were born to either union. Dr. Oglesby is survived by one sister Mrs. Bettie Erwin of St. Joseph, MO and one brother Richard Oglesby of Chicago.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at McCarty and Ricketts Funeral Home by the Rev. P T Smith of the LaGrange Methodist Church. Internment followed in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville.
Those going to Louisville with the body were Mr. and Mrs. H T Fendley, Mrs. A B Wolfe, Messrs J R Gatewood, Lou Maxfield, Wm Owen, and William Pinkston.

RICHARD T OGLESBY DIES IN FLORIDA
Friends here learned of the death of Richard Taylor Oglesby at his home in Live Oak, Fla., last Friday. He was 76 years old and a brother of the late Dr. Joseph W. Oglesby of LaGrange who died about a month ago. Mr. Oglesby was a native of Louisville but went to Chicago forty years ago where he was engaged in the foundry supplies company. He made frequent visits to his brother here. He was a great nephew of President Zachary Taylor and the son of Capt. Benjamin A Oglesby and Betty Taylor Oglesby. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katie Radford Oglesby; a sister Mrs. Frank Erwin of Morrow, Kansas and a niece, Mrs. G H Wilson of Louisville. The body was brought to Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville for burial.

Woodson A. Oglesby Is Heart Attack Victim
Woodson Albert Oglesby, 76, passed away at his home at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, March 6, of a heart attack. This was the first death in the immediate family for forty eight years.
Mr. Oglesby was born near Crestwood in Oldham County, the son of William Churchill and Mary Watson Oglesby and spent his whole life in Oldham County. He spent many years in stock trading and trucking. He was a member of LaGrange Methodist Church.
On January 9, 1895 he was married to Miss Jennie Bozarth of LaGrange who survives him with three sons and three daughters as follows: Mrs. Owen Able, Mrs. P. H. Klosterman, Miss Nancy Grey Oglesby, all of LaGrange; Joseph and Francis Oglesby of Louisville and PVt. Owen Oglesby of Camp Lee, Petersburg, VA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, one brother, William Oglesby and three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Long, Misses Sallie and Mattie Oglesby all of Worth.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the LaGrange Methodist Church, in Charge of th Rev. W. R. Johnson, a friend of many years, assisted by the Rev. G. W. Redding of the LaGrange Baptist Church and the Rev. Lloyd F. Moody his pastor. Musical selections included a solo by Mrs. R. L Duncan and a quartette composed of Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Robert urge, Messrs F. S. Cunningham and R. H. Snyder. Interment was in the Valley of Rest. Casket bearers were Messrs. R. P Neal, Ballard Brown, Charles Brown, Joe Head, Willis Overstreet, Ottie Rainey, Sam Riley, Willie Wright.

MRS. JOSEPH OGLESBY DIES IN LOUISVILLE
Mrs. Joseph Oglesby, aged 92 years, died of double pneumonia at her home in Louisville Tuesday morning at 2 o'clock. Services were held by the Rev. Lucien V. Rule in the home at 1p.m. Wednesday, internment following in the Valley of Rest, LaGrange.
Mrs. Oglesby was Miss Brownie Mount, a native of Oldham county and a sister of Mr. J. Wood Mount of Prospect, who is now the sole survivor of his generation.
After her marriage to Mr. Oglesby she lived on the same farm near Skylight until his death many years ago. Several years after his death she moved to Louisville. Early in life she became a member of Liberty Baptist church.
Besides her brother, J. Wood Mount, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Richard Adams, Mrs. Walter Bennett, Miss Eliza Oglesby all of Louisville, three sons, Clayton Oglesby of Louisville, Ellis and Horance Oglesby of Atlanta, GA.
