                                 Will of Uriah Baldwin

Wayne County, Indiana, Will Book B (will copied for my by Leah Huddleston RAOGK)

  Be it remembered that I Uriah Baldwin of Wayne County and State of Indiana do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and for following to wit:

First, I give and bequeath to my son Asa W Baldwin the tract of land where I now live, and all the rest of my estate to be sold and the proceeds together with all moneys and dues to be dis-paid of as follows, that is , First, all my just debts and funeral charges to be paid, next that my son William Baldwin be paid the sum of forty dollars by my Executors, and my grandson Solomon Hastings the sum of five dollars. And the next it is my will that all the rest of my estate be equally divided between my children, namely, my son's Jesse Baldwin, William Baldwin, Isaiah Baldwin, Josiah Baldwin, Uriah Baldwin, Enos Baldwin, Asa W Baldwin, and my daughters, Sarah Meacy, Elizabeth Cook, and Anna Jessup. Also that the heirs  of my son Nathan Baldwin deceased, have one equal share with the rest of my children. And lastly I appoint my sons Jesse Baldwin and Isaiah Baldwin, Executors to this my last will and testament signed and sealed this twenty seventh day of the {bottom of page gone, starts next page as} hundred and thirty four.

  Before one John Finley clerk of Wayne Probate Court personally came John Maxwell as being duly affirmed says on affirmation that he was present at the executing of the last will and testament of Uriah Baldwin late of the county of Wayne, deceased, that said Will was duly executed, that said deceased was free age to to devise his property and of sound mind and memory and not under any coercion or restraint. That said testator requested him to sign said last will as witness there to which he did together with the other subscribing witness in the presence of said testator and of each other.
