Nathan D. Baldwin (3 different obituaries) d. February 2, 1911

Obituary Prepared by Mr. Baldwin Read-- Will be Missed

  The funerals services for Rev. N.D. Baldwin occurred at Westfield, Monday at 2 o'clock at the Friends church, and the interment was at Summit Lawn.

  Rev. David Hadley, of Moorseville, and old friend, preached the funeral discourse, and it was a splendid tribute to the character of Mr. Baldwin, and also contained many valuable lessons to all present. It was based on the statement of Jesus concerning Lazarus, "I will waken him up" The spiritual application was appropriate.

  The obituary read had been prepared by Mr. Baldwin himself three or four years ago, before the death of his son Linnacus. It was a simple and concise story.

  Rev. Earl Pittinger, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted Re. Mr. Hadley in the services. The pallbearers were: M E Cox, Irvin Stanley, William C Clark, M O Morris, Calvin Keister and Milton Hanson. The music by a choir was appropriate, and Miss Laura Stanley was at the organ.

  Rev. Nathan Baldwin will be much missed at Westfield, and will be long remembered for his many good qualities, and as the father of a family of strong and capable sons and daughters.

  Westfield was shocked Friday by the death of one of her best citizens, Rev. Nathan D Baldwin, who fell dead at his home in the south part of town Friday, the cause being heart trouble. Mr Baldwin had been ill for some time, but his death came suddenly. He was seventy four years of age.

  Mr. Baldwin has been preeminent in the affairs of Westfield for many years and has held a high position as preacher and teacher in the Friends church and Union High Academy, being prominent in the county's educational history. He was the son of David Baldwin a pioneer resident of this community. He leaves five children, Mrs. Marion McKinley, Mrs. Paul D Brown, Dr. L. J. Baldwin, A. G. Baldwin, of Noblesville and Mrs. Charles Jeffries, of Traverse City, Michigan.

  In the death of Nathan D Baldwin Westfield and Hamilton county mourns the loss of one of their most notable citizens, whose great worth cannot be estimated, whose place in the community cannot be filled.

  Funeral services were held Monday at 2 PM a the Friends church, conducted by Rev. David Hadley, of Danville, Interment at Summit Lawn cemetery.

      Prominent Minister and Teacher Called Suddenly at His Home in Westfield Friday

  Rev. N D Baldwin, a minister of the Friends church and a prominent man in church and educational circles, died suddenly Friday at his home in Westfield. His health had not been good for several months and his friends wee wholly unprepared for the end that came so suddenly Friday.

  Mr. Baldwin is survived by his children, Mrs. Marion McKinley, with whom he lived, A G Baldwin, of this city; Dr. L J Baldwin and Mrs. Paul D Brown, of Westfield and Mrs. Charles Jeffries, of Travers City, Michigan. Deceased was the son of David Baldwin, an elderly pioneer of Westfield. He was a loyal supporter of Union High and always loyal to his church.

  Funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Friends church at Westfield, conducted by Rev. David Hadley, of Danville, burial at Summit Lawn cemetery.

Sarah (Knight) Baldwin d. May 12, 1931

     Wife of Dr. L. J. Baldwin a Victim of Rheumatism

  Mrs. L. J. Baldwin, a widely known woman in the western part of Hamilton county, died at an early hour, Tuesday morning in her home in Westfield, following an long illness with rheumatism. She was about fifty eight years of age. The funeral will be held, Thursday, but the hour and place have not yet been fixed.

  Mrs. Baldwin is survived by her husband, Dr. L J Baldwin, who at the present time is a patient in the Hamilton County Hospital in this city; a step daughter, Mrs. Merle Baldwin Chaskell, of Michigan City and a sister, Mrs. Layton Burgess, of Westfield.  She was born in Randolph county but has been a resident of Hamilton County for many years.

  Mrs. Baldwin was first taken ill several months ago but managed to be up and around most of the time until some time in March when she took to her bed and after that her decline was rapid.

Lincoln J. Baldwin d. October 9, 1931

     Long Prominent In Community Affairs Western Part of County  :  Bank President for Many Years  : Member Hamilton County Medical Society, a K. of P. and a Mason

  Dr. Lincoln J Baldwin, aged seventy tow and for the past forty five or fifty years one of the representative citizens of the western part of this county, died at his home in Westfield, at noon, Friday, after a long illness. No arrangements had been made for the funeral late Friday afternoon but relatives said they thought the services would be held in Westfield some time, perhaps Sunday.

  The death of Dr. Baldwin does not come as a surprise to the members of the family or his friends. In view of the fact that he has been in poor health for a number of years. He underwent a number of major operations and improved for a time. During the summer he was a patient in the local hospital for several weeks and soon after returning home he lost his wife.

  The doctor was a son of Nathan D. Baldwin, one of the pioneer residents of the Westfield community, was born and reared in Westfield and spent his entire life there. He graduated from the common schools and also high school in Westfield. Rather late in life he concluded to take a course in medicine and following his graduation he located in Westfield and built up a lucrative practice and followed the profession as long as his health would permit.

  He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Walter Chaskel, of Michigan City, three sisters, Mrs. Paul Brown, Mrs. Ida Jeffries and Mrs. Mollie McKinley of Westfield, and a brother Arie Baldwin of Arizona. Two grandchildren are also living.

  Not only was the deceased active in his practice but he was active in community affairs and also the business life of the community. He served as president of the State Bank of Westfield for many years. He was a member of the Hamilton County Medical Society, a Knight of Pythias and also a Mason.

Arie G. Baldwin d. May 7, 1932

     Formerly a Well Known Druggist of Noblesville  :  FUNERAL BURIAL AT WESTFIELD, 60 Years of Age and Born and Reared In Western Part of County

  Relatives at Westfield, received word, Sunday, from Phoenix, Arizona, announcing the death of A G Baldwin, at the age of sixty. The body left there, Monday, accompanied by the widow, and they will arrive in Westfield some time Thursday. The funeral and interment will take place there.

  The announcement of his death was a surprise to relatives as they had not been informed of his illness. They conclude that he must have died suddenly. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Gale White Baldwin, a Westfield girl before her marriage, and the following sisters: Mrs. Paul Brown, Mrs. Mollie McKinley and Mrs. Ida Jeffries, all residents of Westfield.

  Mr. Baldwin was born and reared in Westfield, being a son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Baldwin. He was a brother of the late Dr L J Baldwin for many years a practicing physician of Westfield and also a brother of the late L S Baldwin, an attorney of Noblesville and a prosecuting attorney in Hamilton county during the nineties.

  For a number of years Mr. Baldwin conducted a drug store in Noblesville, being located in the business room on the south side of the public square where the Ben Zeckel store is now doing business. Twelve or fifteen years ago he became a victim of a severe attack of the asthma and other complications and concluding that a change of climate might benefit him he and Mrs. Baldwin concluded to go to the far southwest and they located in Phoenix where he secured employment in the pharmacy department of a large drug store.

Dora (Frost) Baldwin d. November 28, 1952

  An illness of ten months resulted in the death of Mrs. Dora E. Baldwin at her mone near Hortonville Thursday morning. She was 72 years old and died in the same house in which she was born.

  Services have been set for 1 pm , Ben Kendall, officiating. Burial Saturday at the Hortonville Methodist church with the pastor Rev. will be in West Grove cemetery. (the obituary does read like that.. words missing.) Friends may call at the McMullan Funeral home in Westfield until 11:30 am Saturday.

  A member of the Hortonville Methodist church, Mrs. Baldwin was the daughter of Lewis and Catherine Watson Frost.

  She leaves her husband, Lindley Baldwin: four sons, John and Earl Baldwin of Noblesville, Lewis Baldwin of Anderson, and Donald Baldwin of Arcadia: four daughters Mrs. Ada Arnold and Mrs. Nina Owen of Indianapolis, Mrs. Viola Sylvester and Mrs. Bertha Bodenhorn of Lapel: 21 grandchildren, and 9 great grand children. Tow other children died in infancy.

Lindley E. Baldwin d. June 12, 1965

  Lindley E. Baldwin, 87, a native of Hamilton County and a life resident of the Hortonville area died at his residence there Saturday night. His wife Dora Baldwin, passed away in 1952.

  He is survived by four sons, John and Donald, both of Noblesville, Lewis, Pendleton; Earl, R. 1, Westfield; four daughters, Mrs. Ada Arnold, Indianapolis; Mrs. Nina Owen, and Mrs. Viola Sylvester, both of Lapel; Mrs. Bertha Collier, Anderson; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren.

  Friends may call anytime at the McMullan Funeral Home in Westfield where services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, Rev. Byron Leaser will be in charge  and burial will occur in West Grove Cemetery.

Cecil Edgar Baldwin d. November 19, 1969

  Cecil Edgar Baldwin, 1352 Christian Ave., life Hamilton County resident and a long time active participant in county servicemen's organizations, died Wednesday morning en route by ambulance to Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. He was 70 years old.

  Born Aug. 2, 1899 near Sheridan, he was a retired brick mason. Mr. Baldwin served with the U S Army in World Wars I and II. He was a member of the American Legion; the Veterans of Foreighn Wars; 40 and 8; Hamilton Co Barracks w.w. I and the Eagles Lodge.

  The deceased had held office in the Noblesville American Legion Post 45 for 25 years, serving two terms as Commander and was adjutant for several years.

  Survivors include his widow Naomi A Baldwin; a son Rodney Baldwin, Elwood; two stepson, James Holloway three brothers, Kenneth Baldwin, Noblesville, Eugene Baldwin, Anderson, Glen Baldwin Pendleton; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Bauer, Anderson and Mrs. Orpha Lewis and Mrs.. Emma Holloway, both of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

  Coaltrin Funeral Home will have the services at 10 am Saturday with Rev. Frank Gilbert in charge. Interment will follow in Crownland Cemetery, Friends will be received at the mortuary after 7 o'clock this evening.

Rufus Herbert Baldwin d. November 25, 1972

  Rufus Herbert Baldwin, 64, of Cicero, died Saturday evening at the Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was employed at Delco-Remy Division in Anderson for 29 years and had retired from the General Motors plant. He had lived in Noblesville most of his life, having moved to Cicero a year ago.

  Baldwin graduated from Westfield High School.

  Surviving with the widow, Myrtle are three children, Mrs. Beverly Cross, Larry Baldwin, both of Noblesville and Jerald Baldwin of Summitville; and six grandchildren.

  Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at the McMullan Funeral Home at Westfield. Burial will be in the Crownland Cemetery Noblesville. Friends will be received anytime at the funeral home.

M. Kenneth Baldwin d. April 20, 1981 (2 obituaries)

  M. Kenneth Baldwin, 67, died Monday evening at his home. A native of Hamilton County, he lived there all of his life. He was retired from the Noblesville Daily Ledger and was a member of the Refugee Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 57, Scottish Rite and Shrine.

  Survivors include his wife, Mary; tow daughters, Jane Penwell of Noblesville and Kay Myers of Carmel; a brother Gene Baldwin of Anderson; a sister Emma Holloway of LaFontaine; seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

  Services are at 10:30 am Thursday at the Refugee Christian Church with the Revs. Gary Edwards and Stan Sutton officiating. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery.

  Friends may call at the Coaltrin Randall and Roberts Funeral Home from 1 to 9 pm Wednesday. Masonic memorial rites are at 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

  M. Kenneth Baldwin 67, Noblesville died last evening, April 20, at his home. He was a former Ledger printer, retiring in 1979. Services will be Thursday, 10:30 am at Refuge Christian Church, with burial at Crownland Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Edwards and the Rev. Stan Sutton will officiate.

  Baldwin was born in Hamilton County on Jan. 7, 1914, the son of Francis M. and Rosa E (Losey) Baldwin. He lived in Noblesville most of his life, Graduating from Noblesville High School. HE was a member of Masonic Lodge 57 F & A.M. , the Scottish Rite and the Shrine.

  He belonged to the Refuge Christian Church. His wife, Mary E. Baldwin, survives, as do tow daughters, Jane Penwell, Noblesville, and Kay Myers Carmel. There are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Gene Baldwin, Anderson; and a sister, Emma Holloway, LaFontaine. Tow brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Margaret (Reel) Baldwin d. January 18, 1984

  Margaret Baldwin, 74, died at her home in Noblesville on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Services will be at 10 am tomorrow, Randall & Roberts FUneral Home where friends may call today, 2-4 pm and 6-8pm. Officiating minister will be the Rev. Charles R Ely of The Church of Jesus Christ where Mrs. Baldwin was a member. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

  Mrs. Baldwin was the widow of John Baldwin, who died in 1977. She was born in Noblesville Aug. 1, 1909 and lived here all her life. Her parents were David and Lulu (Bradfield) Reel.

  Survivors are three sons and a daughter; John Baldwin, David Baldwin, Marion Baldwin, and Martha Minnix, all of Noblesville; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Other survivors include three sisters: Grace DeMoss, Indianapolis; Gladys Baldwin and Mary Alice Bentley, both of Noblesville.

Claude A. Baldwin d. November 29, 1984

  Claude A. Baldwin, 45, rural Westfield, died Thrusday, Nov. 29, in Riverview Hospital.  Services will be on Sunday, 2:30 pm, at McMullan Funeral Home, Westfield, where friends may call tomorrow, 2-9 pm. The REv. Jack Terry will officiate and burial will be in Little Eagle Creek Cemetery.

  Baldwin was born in Fishers Aug. 11, 1939, and lived in Hamilton County all his life. He was a 1958 graduate of Westfield High School and a 19 year employee of Ford MOtor CO. where he was a crane operator. He served with teh Army in Vietnam.

  Survivors are his parents, Luther Ivy and Alice Pauline (Barrickman) Baldwin, Hortonville; ihs wif, the former Janet M. Huse; three children, all at home; Melody Nayceene, Melissa Kay and Michael Eugene.

  Other survivors are four sisters and two brothers; Veneta Yancey, Noblesville; Ruby Cole, Fortville; Hazel Scherer, Arcadia; Esther Baldwin, Alexandria; Walter "Bud" Baldwin, Noblesville and Elmer Baldwin, Lebanon.

David L. Baldwin d. May 20, 1985

  David L. Baldwin, 53, Noblesville, died Monday in his home. Private services will be held at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Ely will officiate.

  Baldwin was born in Noblesville on May 24, 1931, the son of John and Margaret (Reel) Baldwin. He was a lifetime resident of Noblesville. Baldwin was a member of Little Friendly Church Noblesville.

  Survivors include his sister Martha L. Minnix, Noblesville, and tow brothers, John Baldwin and Marion Baldwin, both of Noblesville. There will be no calling hours.

Earl A. Baldwin d. October 24, 1986

  Earl A. Baldwin 72, Lapel, died Friday evening at the Manor House at Riverview.  He was born August 16, 1914 in Hamilton County, the son of Lindley and Dora Ellen (Frost) Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin lived in Hamilton county until two years ago when he moved to Lapel. He formerly had been employed at Firestone.

  Survivors include tow sons, Wayne Baldwin and Ronnie Baldwin both of Noblesville; a daughter, Judy Jessup, Noblesville; a sister Viola Sylvester, Lapel; a brother, Don Baldwin, Fortville; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

  Friends may call from 1-2 pm Monday at Fisher Brothers Funeral Home, Lapel. A graveside service will follow at West Grove Cemetery. Westfield, with the Rev. Wayne Anderson Officiating.

Luther I. Baldwin d. March 27, 1987

  Luther A. Baldwin, 92, Route 3, Sheridan, died this morning at Noblesville Health Care Center. Mr. Baldwin was born May 18, 1894 in Hortonville, the son of Franklin and Sarah Jane (Haworth) Baldwin. A life long resident of Hamilton County, he had lived in the Hortonville area since 1945 and in the Fishers area in earlier years.

  He was a member of Hortonville United Methodist Church. He was an auto mechanic and farmer and operated Baldwin Auto Repair Shop wet of Hortonville for 40 years.  Mr. Baldwin married Pauline A. Barrickman June 28, 1922, she survives.

  Also surviving are two sons Elmer Baldwin, Lebanon, and Walter Baldwin, Noblesville; four daughters, Esther Baldwin, Alexandria, Ruby Cole, Fortville, Veneta Yancey, Noblesville, and Hazel Scherer, Arcadia; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

  Services will be at 2 pm Sunday at McMullen Funeral Home, Westfield. Burial will be at Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Robert W. "Bob" Baldwin d. July 22, 1992

  Former Noblesville Resident Robert W. "Bob" Baldwin, 75, Jacksonville, IL, died Wednesday afternoon, July 22 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1917 in Jacksonville, the son of Lawrence V. and Sylvan (Peak) Baldwin. He was married Oct. 17, 1942, in Lincoln Neb., to Bernice Schrimpf, who died Dec. 31, 1971. He was then married Jan. 25, 1974, to Alma Hale Gard, who died Nov. 3, 1982.

  Mr. Baldwin and his family lived in Noblesville in the early to mid- 1950's and was a shoe salesman in the state of Indiana. Surviving are tow sons, Charles L. Baldwin of Celina, Ohio and Clayton L. Baldwin of Naperville, IL. two brothers William P Baldwin of St. Johns, MO, and John E. Baldwin of St. Charles, MO; tow sisters Barbara Jean Miller of Mesa Ariz., and Helen Baldwin of Jacksonville; one stepsister, Marion Hopper of Asheboro, N C one stepbrother, Carl Barton of Normandy, MO, and five grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard S Baldwin; and one sister, Dorothy Deane Battin; and two stepbrothers, Philip D Barton and Richard W Barton.

  Following cremation, a memorial service was conducted on Aug. 1, at Cody and Son Memorial Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the Council on Aging or the Visiting Nurses Association, both in Jacksonville, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Pauline A. (Barrickman) Baldwin d. November 20, 1992

  Pauline A. Baldwin, 91, Noblesville, died Friday, November 20, at Noblesville Nursing Home. A Native of Boone County, she was born February 18, 1901, the daughter of John Albert and Anna Mae Rose (Helms) Barrickman.  She was a member of the Hortonville United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Luther I. Baldwin, who died in 1987.

  Survivors include; two sons, Elmer B. Baldwin of Lebanon and Walter L. Baldwin of Noblesville; four daughters, Ruby Cole of Pendleton, Veneta Yancey of Noblesville, Esther Hulett and hazel Scherer of Okeechobee, FL.; two brothers, Russell Barrickman of Lebanon and Forrest Barrickman of Santa Rosa, Calif., three sisters, Doris Kittinger of Sheridan and Bernice Stumm of Carmel; 15 grandchildren, and many step grandchildren and many step great grandchildren. One son is deceased.

  Services will be at 10 am Monday at McMullan Funeral Home in Westfield. Friends may call from 3-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial is in Carmel Cemetery.

Reva Baldwin d. August 18, 1993

  Lakeland, Fla.,  Reva "Mickey" Maxine Baldwin, 75, Lakeland, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1993, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was born March 13, 1918, in Carmel, the daughter of Fletcher and Blanche (Clark) Shubert. She was a homemaker and a former resident of Elwood. She was a member of he Elwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Noblesville American Legion.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney C Baldwin. Surviving include her son, Dennis Baldwin of Lakeland, FL, her sister, Mardell Weaver of Edgewater, FL, and four grandchildren.

  Services will be at 11 am Saturday at the Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with the Rev. Douglas Beadle officiating. Burial will take place in Elwood Cemetery. Calling will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the funeral home.

Donald Baldwin d. February 1, 1994

  Donald L. Baldwin, 76, Noblesville, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 1994, at Harbor manor Care Center of Noblesville. He was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Hamilton County, the son of Lindley and Dora (Frost) Baldwin.

  Mr. Baldwin was employed as a driver for Renner's Trucking in Indianapolis, retiring in 1978.

  Surviving are five daughters, Sandra Baldwin of Fortville, Donna Isenhower of Arcadia, Sharon Neuhausel of Beech Grove, Peggy Beaver of Noblesville and Dora Baldwin of Anderson; two sons, Harold Baldwin and Garold Baldwin, both of Fortville; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Baldwin in 1972. Services were Thursday, Feb. 3, 1994 at Randall & Roberts Logan Street Chapel in Noblesville, with Pastor James O Kleinfelter officiating. Burial was in West Grove Cemetery Cicero.
