                                                                        Will of John Cyrus Baldwin

Hamilton Co. Indiana Will Book G Pgs 436, 437, 438.

  Know all men by these present that I, John C. Baldwin being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament.

Item 1: I give and bequeath to my housekeeper Louisa Montgomery my household and kitchen furniture and one black faces cow, also ten acres of land situated in Section one, Township eighteen north, Rouge tree east, beginning at the south east corner of Thomas Coffins lost thence south to a point two and one half rods north of the northeast corner of Joseph Hacker's lot, thence west to a point from which a line running north to my north line will include ten acres. Said tract includes my dwelling house and barn.

Item 2: I give and bequeath to Joseph Hacker my tools and farming implements and one white faced cow, also eight and three fourths acres of land situated in the aforementioned section, beginning at the north west corner of Joseph Hacker's lot thence west to a pint from which a line drawn south to the public road, thence east to the south west corner of Mablou Perry's lot, thence following the bounded area between my land and Mablou Perry's lot, north and east to the Westfield and Indianapolis road thence north to the south east corner of Joseph Hacker's lot, shall include eight and three fourths acres.

Item 3: I give and bequeath all the residue of my property both personal and ral after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, to Union High School, Association and authorize said Association or it Board of Directors to make such disposition of said property and investment of the proceeds as in their judgment may be advantageous and the income from said investments shall be used under the direction of said Association or it Board of Directors to promote the Educational interests of Union High School.

Item 4: I constitute and appoint Arthur E Picklano to be the Executor of this my last will and testament and I authorize and empower him to sell and convey title to any of my real estate if such sale shall be necessary for the payment of debts or the expenses of settlement of my estate.

  In Witness where of I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal at Westfield, Indiana this 25thd day of the tenth month in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and ninety nine.

  Signed sealed and acknowledged by the aforesaid John C Baldwin as his last will and testament in our presence and signed by us in his presence and in the presence of each other the day and year above written.

The State of Indiana, Hamilton County, SS:

  Be it Remembered, That on the 30th day of March personally came D. Randolph Barbour one of the subscribing witnesses to the within and foraging last Will and Testament of John C Baldwin late of said County, deceased , personally appeared before H W Carey, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Hamilton County, in the State of Indiana, and being duly sworn by the Clerk of said Court, upon his oath , declared and testified as follows, that is to say: That on the 25thd day of Oct., 1899, he saw the said John C Baldwin sign his name to the said instrument in writing  as and for his last Will and Testament; and that this deposit at the same time, heard the said John C Baldwin declare the said instrument in writing to be his last Will and Testament and that this said instrument in writing was at the same time, at the request of the said John C Baldwin and with his consent attested and subscribed by the sad Able Doan in the presence of said testator, and in the presence of each other, as subscribing witnesses thereto  and that the said John C Baldwin was at the time of the signing and subscribing of said instrument in writing as aforesaid, of full age (that is more than twenty one years of age) and of sound and disposing mind and memory, and not under any coercion or restraint as the said deponent verify believes and further a deponent says not.
