Jeanne Kennedy Waggoner provided me with a group of Margaret Alexander Kennedy Family Photos that included both her Mother, Margaret Alexander Kennedy and Father, David Raymond Kennedy, Sr.  She also allowed me to copy her parents wedding invitation as well as a copy of the wedding service itself.

The 1930 Federal Census for Nashville, Davidson County, TN lists “Raymond D.” (sic) Kennedy, age 28 living at 1403 Arthur Ave with wife, Margaret A., age 25 along with children Jean C and son, David R, age 3 months.  He is reported as renting the house for $30 a month and owning a radio.

Living next door and owning the house at 1401 Arthur Ave (value $4000) was Archie I. Alexander, age 58, occupation Car Inspector, Steam Railroad, wife Clara B., age 55 and her mother, Monie A. Wood, age 84, a widow, born Kentucky.  From this record it can be derived that Archie and Clara had been married in 1903.  Likewise, Monie Wood reported that she had been married at age 24, corresponding to 1870.  The Alexander home did not have a radio.

Updated and reformatted the Alice & Dollie Miller Story using the new information found in Margaret Kennedy's own genealogical research of 1958-1969.  Of note, there is no way to tell right now if "E. Miller" and "Ralph William Miller" are the same person or not.  Also, Margaret Alexander did not know where her mother was buried and thus did not know about the grave of Lula May Miller, who might have been her twin.

Jean Kennedy Waggoner, daughter of David Raymond Kennedy, Sr and Margaret Alexander recently rediscovered the genealogical research that her mother had conducted between 1959 and her death in 1971.  These papers had gone unlocated after her death and reveal the extensive efforts, Margaret Alexander went to to find out about her natural parents.  In sharing these papers with the rest of the family, Jean has filled important gaps in what we know about the Miller Family.  Included are:

Went to the Public Library in Columbia, TN on 29 December 2001.  My assistant, Michael Kennedy found the death date and will for James M. Alexander, father of Archibald I. Alexander.  I also changed the photo on the homepage to a photo of Margaret Alexander sitting on a donkey.  I just like it.  Also added some additional information to page on Archibald Argyle Campbell.

Went to Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville over Thanksgiving and located 1910 Census Entry for Archibald and Clara Alexander.   Confirmed that they were married in 1904.  I later realized that Clara's older brother, Frank Wood was their next door neightbor at 1427 Fourteenth Ave North in Nashville along with his second wife, Gertrude; son Joe and daughters Eva and Alberta.  Also located death certificate for Monie Carson Wood's older brother, David W. Carson.   He died in Nashville living at 418 South Fifth Street on 31 May 1911.

11 November 2000

Added CSA Pension Application for David Carson.   This was Monie Carson's older brother.  He saw considerable service in the Confederate Army including the Battles of Fort Donelson, Chickamauga, Chattanooga and Atlanta.  Post war, he was the Sheriff of Trousdale County, TN.  Of note, he is the only one of our relatives I have found who was actually granted a pension.   Coincidently, he is also the only one who refused to take the oath of allegiance to the Untied States in order to obtain a parole.
