Colonial Soldiers: Samuel Edmondson
Many of those listed above received grants of land for participation in
the wars against the French and Indians and for service in the Militia
in defence of the frontiers. Many served in the regiment commanded by
Col. William Byrd. A large number of those listed were living in
Mecklenburg County at time of enlistment, others moved to the county
later.
