My Great Great Great Great Grandparents and beyond

Great Great Great Great Grandparents:

John Withers born about 1767 in Thatcham, Berkshire, UK, it is not known when he died.

Hannah Burgess was John's wife, possibly his second, no proven information available.


Charles Buchanan born in Scotland and Mary Unknown was his wife.

Daniel Magenis was a shoemaker in Ireland and Maria Johnston Holloway was his wife.


James Conn was born in Aberdeenshire, Forgue, Scotland UK on the 29th of December 1796 and died on 25th of September 1874 at Aberdeenshire, Forgue, Scotland UK.  James was a farmer.

Christian Cruikshank was born 2nd of April 1794 in Comistie, Aberdeenshire, Forgue, Scotland UK and died at Aberdeenshire, Forgue, Scotland UK on 4th September 1873.  James and Christian were married at Aberdeenshire, Forgue, Scotland UK on 14th January 1821 and had 8 children.


James Flood was born in 1807 in Sydney and died on 5th of April 1886 at Narrandera, NSW.  

Mary Foster was born on 17th of December 1809  in NSW (registered as Mary Single) and died on 10th of November 1854 in NSW.  James and Mary married on 8th of April 1828 in Windsor, NSW and had 12 children. 


Hugh Scott was born in Ayrshire, Scotland UK on the 5th September 1802, it is not known when he died.  Hugh was a book binder.  Though Hugh was married to Catherine Ferguson, I do not believe she is the mother of my Great Great Great Grandmother Jane Scott.

Margaret McJannet was born on the 19th of August 1808 in Dailly, Ayrshire, Scotland UK, she died on 24th of April 1895 at Maybole, Ayrshire, Scotland UK.  Margaret had a child (James) to John McInnes also in 1835.  Margaret was a dressmaker, she never married.

Great Great Great Great Great Grandparents:

Joseph Flood was born in 1763 in Dublin, Ireland UK and died 12th of September 1808 in Parramatta NSW.  Joseph was a convict, sent to Australia aboard "Boddingtons" in 1793 after being sentenced to 7 years for stealing a horse. Joseph had one previous conviction for theft.  Joseph Flood was named as a private with the Sydney Loyalists and when the Irish convicts staged their Battle of Vinegar Hill in March 1804, Flood was one of the soldiers who took part in the confrontation.

Ann Gorman was born in 1778 in Dublin, Ireland UK and died on 22nd of August 1814 in Sydney NSW.  Ann was a convict, sent to Australia on "Marquis Cornwallis", arriving in NSW in February 1793.  Ann was sentenced to 7 years for committing a felony to the value of 4.9d.  Joseph and Ann had 5 children, there is no marriage recorded.

Ann Single was born in England and transported to Sydney on "Sydney Cove", departing Falmouth on 11th January 1807 and arriving 18th of June 1807.  Ann had been convicted at Cambridge Quarter Sessions on 17th of April 1806 and received a sentence of 7 years.  Update, thanks to anonymous poster, Ann Single was convicted for stealing from Hiron & Thrower, linen drapers.  Ann was granted an absolute pardon on 29th of February 1812, she did apparently return to England in 1818.   Further details are unknown.  Please contact me if you have any further information.
