Alfred Cecil Tate

(My Grandfather)

Alf had a problem with his legs when he was born and had to spend much of first couple of years in hospital. He used to deliver green groceries with his legs in irons. Later he had a bike with a basket.

After married moved to London for about 3 or 4 years. They lived in a flat in Acton, in a tree lined avenue, near a film studios. But they couldn't afford the rent.
Whilst they were there he took them to see lots of places every weekend, like Crystal Palace, Wipsnaid Zoo, Parks, etc.. But Eva wasn't happy there and they returned to Newcastle.

He worked for Armstrong Witworths engineering company.
He enjoyed bowling.
