Will of William Wood, 1658

In the name of God Amen The third day of October In the year of our Lord god one thousand six hundred Fyfty and eight I William Wood of Bishopside yeoman in the County of york yeoman tired of Bodie but of good and perfect memorie god bee praised doo make and ordaine this my last will and testament In manner and forme following That is to say First I Commend my soule Into the handes of god my maker Inprimis I give and bequeath unto Hellen my now wife the third part of that messuage and tennement that formerly did belonge unto the Said Messuage that I now dwell in with all the buildinges and appurtenances there unto belonging dureing her naturall life Item I give and bequeath unto the said Hellen the third parte of my --- personall estate That is to Say Beasts Sheepe and horse and all other quir?? goodes and all the other goodes in my house except such goodes which shall bee heereafter mentioned Item I give and bequeath unto to my sonne William one Cubbard standinge in the Parlour and one Bedsteade standinge in the Chamber over the Hall and one other Bedsteade standinge over the Low Parlour and one Table Long standinge in the Hall And then I give and bequeath unto the Said William all the Implements of wood without the dwellinge house uppon condition that the Said William shall pay his younger brother and sisters heereafter to bee nominated such a reasonable value as shall be sett upon the goodes aforementioned when the Said William shall enioy them soe that the Said William doth not enioy them soe long as his mother liveth Item I give and bequeath all that Tennement and buildinge now standinge upon it which formerly I purchased to pay my debts that I owe out of which and these two Closes with the rent now in the occupation of widow Hodgson ~ Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne William twentie pounds out of my personall estate heereafter to bee spoken of Item I give and bequeath all the rest of my personall estate which is not formerly given by legacie or shall not hereafter bee given by legacy unto the rest of my other children that is to say Anthony Wood Thomas Wood George Wood and John Wood Dorothy Wood Isabell Wood and Anne Wood Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my daughter two poundes to that shee hath had for her Full part and portion Item I give unto my oldest daughter Jane Pawson Five shillings For her full part and portion Item I give unto my daughter Mary Colyer two pound for her Full part and portion Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ellen Darnbrooke twenty poundes for her Full part and portion Item I give unto my sonne Henery Woode two pound All which ^----- legacies last mentioned are to bee paid out of certaine thinges not yet mentioned by will nor by legacie That is to Say eight Acres being due to mee being purchased of the Trustees for the Common weaste of England one acre and one halfe lyeing in the Stocke plain as is mentioned in the aforesaid Co----ey------- which last legacie I give and bequeath unto my Sonne William all the Tymber wood not yet mentioned Standeing and groweing lyeing and being oncly reserved till now for paying thiese last legacies Item I give and bequeath all that messuage house and two barns standinge neere there adioyneing with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto Thomas Wood and John Wood not to bee accepted or taken soe longe as one Lease remains yet unexpired as the writeings doth make appeare and then the reversion after the lease aforementioned then to remaine to the said Thomas Wood and John Wood and to theire heires forever Lastly to conclude the said Testator doth give and bequeath unto Henrie Wood my sonne all the reversion and reversions of one ancient water corne Mill called Pateley Bridge Mill with all the easements and appurtenances thereunto belonginge unto the said water corne Mill Now to this my Last Will and Testament I constitute and ordaine William Wood my Eldest sonne Francis Darnbrooke and Richard Pawson as Executors to this my last will and Testament In wittnes whereof I set my hand this day and year above expressed William Wood his mark xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx John Wood Thomas Wood Henery Wood

This will was proved at London the one and thirtieth day of January In the year of our Lord god one thousand six hundred and Fifty and Eight English Stile Before the Judges for probate of wills and grannteinge administrations lawfully authorised by the oath of William Wood the sonne and one of the executors To whom administration was commytted hee being First legally sworne truely to administer Power being reserved the like administration to bee commytted unto Francis Darnbrooke and Richard Pawson the other executors when they shall legallie desire the same.
